ASP (A.S. Performance) Turbo Kit

Post by esteinmaier » Sat Jun 07, 2008 9:09 am

OK, guys. We've come up with some final figures. We've decided that since we're going through the pain of fabricating a bunch of parts, we may as well offer you options of what you want in the kit.

Base kit: $3699

Includes:
Bullseye Power turbo
External TiAL wastegate
Cast manifold
Big FMIC
Intercooler piping
Blow off valve
Megasquirt (MS1, V3)
Injectors
Wiring
All little knick knacks that make it all work together.

This kit is good to around 300whp as it sits, and is very easily upgraded to the 500whp range with more fuel.

Components used in the kit are subject to change.

We will also do other upgrades to the kit depending on what you are looking for. There are just too many great parts out on the market to list. If you want something you don't see, just ask!

awesome.... can you list what other parts you recommend to prep a stock or light bolt on car for the turbo kit? Maybe make a list of mandatory and suggested?

Mandatory-P/T clutch or better, laptop for MS, etc.

suggested-LSD, cam choice, etc

I really want one of these kits...great price, but I have other things I need to buy first. Maybe a present for myself when I make E7...

Is this an official vendor thread?

If so please contact Diablo0 or BlackRoseRacing with appropriate vendor information and then this will be moved to the vendor section.

Certainly! Although it will be more expensive that way, as the upgrade prices I have listed are based on the assumption that we will not also be shipping out the base model parts.

Use arp head studs, DO NOT REUSE STOCK HEAD BOLTS this can cause a slight head gasket problem haha... I'm running a comp 400 cam and it pulls really hard... The PT clutch held up beautifully for 8-12 psi (200-250), but if you are going to build the motor for 300 to 750 hp... I would suggest a stronger clutch lol.

I would assume the stock block would work fine for the lower level kits, and a new clutch would be needed as well.

An upgraded clutch and a wideband o2 should be considered essentials for any turbo system. We let you decide on what parts you want to do for that.

so if we upgrade the turbo, is that the price ON TOP of the base kit price? or do you guys subtract the cost of the base turbo from the upgraded one?

I think those are the upgrade prices as somebody mentioned upgrading later and E said it would cost more cause thte upgrade price was based off not shipping the base kit parts...

I still would like to see a list of mandatory partsnot included in the kit...so far we have a better clutch and a wideband. Do we need a laptop for MS or is that just to tune MS if we want to tweak it later?

To use our kit, you will need a stronger clutch, a wideband o2, and a laptop computer. The laptop can be an ancient one, as long as it can run it's own operating system OK. The head studs aren't absolutely necessary if the engine has never been disassembled, but if you've ever had the head off, it's good practice to reattach it the best way possible.

does the laptop need to stay in the car ? or is it a "1-time" deal for an initial programming? safe on a daily driver?

It needs to be in the car during tuning. When you're not making changes, it doesn't need to be connected.
I have probably 20k miles of heavy beating on Grrtrude with MS. Is that safe enough for you?

A couple of quick questions as I'm considering purchasing this kit in the spring.

1) Will the FMIC fit on the 02 bumper w/o cutting? Or, how much modification is needed?

2) Will your megasquirt come with a plug n play harness or is soldering needed?

3) What about MS maps? Will you have some to distribute as a starting point to work from?

4) Does the intercooler piping and intake require moving the battery or any other components?

Thanks
-Chad

megasquirt is not plug and play.. there is some wiring needed. and they do provide a map to start out with and get you running.. the cutting of the bumper im not sure about since its an 02. battery removal is not necessary but its such and easy move to the trunk im gonna do it.. it gives me more space.. both questions i have asked him in pm thats why i answered you.

2nd gear missed shift but that pull didn't spin the tires at all. That was how fast the rpms went up with the car in motion.

just looking for a price with the stage 1 turbo and a smaller intercooler.

would i need a bigger fuel pump since it aint part of the list of mods?
