Daytime running lights mod

I know here in Canada our turn signals are also our day time running lights, . Which means, once you turn the car on, the lights illuminate on there own. I wanted to try and turn them off when i want to. Has anyone done this before? Either having them off completely, or on a switch?
I already know this is illegal, so please spare the lectures.
Thanks

Wow, you have DRL and want to disable it and I can't get it to work on mine since it is a non-Canadian vehicle. Oh boy.

How funny. People over here want to do the DRL mods on their neons, but you want to turn them off.
I don't know of anyone doing it, but I'm sure if you look hard enough someone has, there's bound to be a way.

Once the car comes out from underneath its blanket this spring, ill take a look at the wiring and probably figure it out. Then i'll let you guys know how its wired to do make it DRL

it would be easy tio make teh park lights DRLs.... just run a jumper wire from somethign that comes on with the ignition to the park light power wires....
as for sullygully's question.... that sounds a lil tougher.

isnt there a fuse for the drl? in theory if you pull the fuse they wouldnt work....then just splice the wire to a constant power and run a switch to the lights.....or option two.....cut the wire near the fuse......then just wire in a switch and reconnect the two ends of the wire....the power will turn on when you start the car like normal but you can switch the lights on or off

if its anyhting like the chevy DRLs, its not that simple. the fuse for the DRLs is teh fuse for the headlights themselves... i think.

still...even if its the same fuse its a different wire....splice a switch into the wire and break the ground on the drl

Sully, On My 2005 there was a DRL relay in the in-car fuse/relay box. I just turned my key on and off and felt which one was clicking and yanked it. Now, no more DRL's for me

if you've got an atx, then all you need to do is pull the ebrake up a notch, its not nearly enough to make the brakes drag, but it turns the drls off on atx neons.. mine does it! might be an option before you go messing with swtiches and wires.

Well, I know in my dad's Chevy, if you pull the DRL fuse, the speedometer doesn't work.

I thought i'd resurrect this post, to say the one click e-brake mod works just perfect.
I should have remembered this from back in the day, when we'd go offroading in the school yard jumping the long jump pit in my dads tempo

, I would do the exact thing, by clicking the ebrake a knotch to turn off the DRLs, which on that car were the headlights. Oh the memories.

Wow. I was posting information related to disabling DRL's in other cars... Meaning that there might be some kind of conflict with just pulling fuses out. So, it's NOT necessarily meaningless. Don't be such a dick and you might have a chance at people respecting YOUR opinions and input.
kthx.
