Black front bumper trim on 03+ SXT?

Post by welchspro » Thu Jan 25, 2007 9:17 pm

I was wondering if anyone has pics of the chrome trim on the 03+ SXT front bumper painted black? I saw it on an R/T once and thought it looked good. I haven't seen anyone else with it though? Also, would painting something like that be easy or best left to professionals?

Here you go, looks so much cleaner, and gets rid of that happy face...

Definetly better than this:

As far as a write up goes, I sent OrangeBlast a pretty lengthy how to a long time ago, I can't remember if he posted it up.

Anyways, it's pretty simple if you know how to spray paint properlly. It's all about the prep, getting rid of all the chrome, and getting down to bare plastic, sanding it smooth, light coats of paint, and finally a nice heavy duty clear coat.

Not to highjack this thread, but I have an extra set of chrome strips if you need another set. I can paint em too if you want me too

it's pretty easy, just pop em out and scuff them with an SOS pad, shoot em with some paint and a coat of clear. bing bang you're done.

I think they look better color matched, and if your a stickler like me, its not as easy to get the right color...

auh thanks chic! haha

yeah I have a write up out there somewhere. I agree with others though about it looking better when painted to match the body. Black inserts only looks good on a black car IMO. I almost did mine in black but thank god someone convinced me otherwise. I have picture threads all over the place so go check one of em out if u wanna have a look.

I think it looks really good on some cars, but I like it on mine, I think. The chrome matches well with the headlights.

Yeah, my car's silver, so I don't think that color-matching them would change much on mine. I do like the way they looked with the black color-matched pic above though.
