cf clear peeling
cf clear peeling
so i had a shocker sticker on my hood, and when i peeled it off, it took alot of the clear with it. so ive got some clear coat missing now. im planning on reclearing the hood this spring, but until then, i want to clean it up, so would this idea work
tape off the corner of the hood where it is peeling, or just the little section that is peeling, wetsand it, and shoot it with a can of spray bomb clear... not going for perfection, just want to clean it up for now, til i get it resprayed this spring....
thoughts?

Yeah, just wait, but as long as you are going to do it fairly soon.
Heres an idea, when you take it to a body shop to get it cleared, have them put a few drops of blue in the clear. My buddy did this in red on his Accord......PURE HOTNESS. Seriously, be different, uniqe, tint it blue. Trust me, it looks GREAT!
Now that I think about it, I think he had the clear mixed with a few drops of black, and a couple ounces of red, but it looks HOTTTTTTT!
If mine ever needed to be recleared for some reason, I would definately tint it slightly black.
Heres the best couple pics I could find of the outcome.

As you can see, it looks much better than just a red carbon/kevlar hood. Just a slight tint of red to match his paintjob.
In this pic, you can see that in direct sunlight, it looks black except where the sun does the "carbon fiber 3-D" thing....

I can't stress enough, it looks 100% better in person. Just seeing these pics again makes me want to go get it done right now, LOL.

I like that! I was thinking of just having mine painted gloss black (because of the unexplained cracks and scratches
) but maybe ill just have them add some black to the clear and do it that way.
and also tink...i think it will be fine as long as you have a bit of clear left on the hood, otherwise id get something on there.

theres a pic of it. i really wanna clean it up. and i have thought about tinting it blue when i recleared it, i just dont know yet...
but my main question on this thread, is shoudl i wetsand and spray bomb clear that little section, cuz it really looks bad. like horrid bad.

It will look better, but not perfect..........you should have learned a valuable lesson here......enough with the damn shocker crap.......it's outdated now. Stop trying to be trendy. It makes your car look.........ugly (see your hood).
Sorry for being so blunt man, but, I love your car, but you ruin it for me every time I see another stupid sticker somewhere.

it feels liek it might have gel coat over it... cuz its not bumpy like the weave of the carbon.
my buddy works at a body shop and he says that if we start at like an 800 grit wet paper and go up to 1200 adn then 1500 and hit it with a buffer, then lay a coat of spray bomb clear it should hold up adn look a lot better than it does now, until i get it resprayed this spring, not lookign for perfection, i mean, its a damn rattle can, just looking for better than it is now.
and FYI, i never started the shocker thing to be trendy. i did it cuz i wanted to and thought it was pretty funny.
