I went to a body shop, got my car priced for a re-paint and what-not. They want $1,800 to have the kit properly mounted, and then color matched.
I was expecting around the $1,000 range... not nearly 2 grand JUST to get a kit thrown on!!!
What have most of you paid? Is this what I'm going to have to expect? Anyone have any local connections. *laughs*

thats alot. being as it isnt a stock part, they probably throw it into the custom category. and then they go and raise the price because its custom work.

my buddys fiance paid 3300 to get her body kit put on and put a fresh coat of black on. they ripped her another A-hole, the paint is like shrinking! they took it to court and lost!

The reason i tried hooking you up in the first place....but we know how that went... *beats friend with garden hose*
under $2k isnt too bad. Take it around for numerous quotes though, find a small town shop that is good at body work, fiberglassing, and paint. Sometimes the bigger shops, like mentioned already, will jack the price JUST because they consider it "custom", not because of the work itll actually only take.
*EDIT*
We do have a shop up here in MI that does spectacular work for a decent price somewhat by me. They did a friend of mine's car about 5 times now because he keeps changing kits, they do fenominal work and as far as i know would probably beat that shops price. It's called Rite Way Bodyshop in Hopkins MI. I'll find some pics real quick of his car.

They even did his engine bay detailing for him.

Granted the direct port nitrous and all the mods were done by him, they dont halfass stuff there and stop at the fenders... Might cost you still upwards of $2k but youll be getting top notch work... Give em a call, might have to call information though lol i dont have the # anymore.

yea, can't spend around $2k for a paint job at this point in time.
My limit is a little over a grand at this point. Bascically, whatever i can charge on my credit card + what's in my bank account.
Right now, I'm trying ot work what little connections i have, and see what i can do.

the one in MD does but im not sure but from the pics you showed you dont need major work just some spot puddy and maybe some body filler you shouldnt need fiberglass or resin added to the bumper. I dont know the stage i told them what color i wanted from there book and told them i wanted it to look like this (and i pointed to a newer car out side) without no runs and overspray and i want it to look as factory as possible, dude said where's your keys and well call you in 3 days. they even aligned my hood and i didnt even ask them to do that.....lol

front of my kit is cracked in a few spots. It just needs some reinforment, and proper fit ment. The rear REALLY needs to be fitted correctly. It has large effing gaps in the rear...
I'll check them out though. I never wanted to trust maaco, but since you got your car painted there, then I have faith!

when i had my kitted neon it cost me 1,000$ cash to get the kit mounted and the whole car painted, minus the hood and roof.
but that was in ny... alot of body shops = competitve rates.

Spot putty is not something you'd use in a body shop. I usually use USC's Icing for small low spots etc.
For fiberglass kits, I usually charge around 800 to paint and smooth the waviness from the molds. To fix I charge 200. I could do your kit in your yellow color for 1100 total and in PPG DBC base (best colormatch from PPG).
Base/Clear. 4 coats of clear, 1 wetsanded off. You'll see my car after I post the gunmetal Neon I'm building.

then you come to ohio and do all of it.
I called the body shop again. Not getting it two-toned is $1,400. This includes fixing the kit, fitting, painting, and re-painting my tail lights. I'm going to look into maaco and see what they say. $1,400 is a little better... but I'd prefer a little less if possible.

That sounds like way too much to me. I wish I could help but I painted it myself. All materials and everything cost me 550.

1400 is not bad at all for all that work what was it with the two-tone?

I payed 5 grand for this paint with bodywork. They shaved the tailights, tailgate, hands, and rollpan. They also removed the body line.
Granted they had to do it 2 times to get it right. Collex around here is also a good shop and does alot of custom cars.
*Pic was when the front wasnt tighten on

$1,800 plus some change... and as much as I'd LOVE to have it done, i just don't have that type of cash.
Like I said, I can deal with $1,400... just gotta save a little.... more than that, and it's out of my range

Now that I think about it Po12no had his Buddyclub front, sides and Evo rear painted for $800. He installed them and they fixed and painted them.

Where at? Collex?
Cuz that's my issue right now... it's installed, it just needs fixed, fitted, and painted.

No a local shop. Collex told him around the same price but they wanted the car for more then a week

Hell, they can have my car for 2 months as far as I'm concerned... I just want things done -right-.
Got a name for the local shop? I'm in ypsilanti every weekend, so it wouldn't be a big deal to take my car up towards detroit

I had mine done the first time for about $2600. Slightly different shade of steel blue, shaved 3rd brake light, shaved and molded sideskirts, there was one small crack in the back bumper, notched liscense plate section, they had to cut a custom body line in the fenders, installed cf hood. this was almost 4 years ago.
the last time i had it painted another shade of steel blue, it only cost me $700. and ive had the skirts remolded once for next to nothing. That was last april. Connections FTW

Josh give Rick a call at Rite Way (269)793-7252
It's in Hopkins MI, and it'll prolly cost you roughly $1k i was told today...Call and tell them one of mouth came from Jesse Pigeon (like the bird). That's his Avenger, a friend of mine. Make sure to tell them you already have the kit installed, but need some fine fitment work and some body work. He gave Griffin (friend with 240) a loaner car to use while his was in the shop too without extra charge (Cadillac Eldorado). At least give them a call, im thinking they will beat that $1400 now that i talked to a few friends.
