Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

what i could of had and what i got

Post by bigjim » Mon Mar 05, 2007 2:52 pm

i was at the local junkyard today and spotted a 1gn with so aftermarket 15 inch wheels on it, any set of wheels there are $100 out the door, so i go up to look at them and they have a neon stamp in the lip, so i thinking these were some type of acr rims or something , then i go and ask them to pull them off and the guy said they have 2 locking lugs on each wheel and they have tried many times to get them off and about a dozen other people have tried. so no luck on the rims, the neon was on its way to the smasher soon too :cry: :cry:

so here is what i got and it was my favorite price to FREE, guy felt bad we couldnt get the rims off

Try a/to get the lock off;
Vise grips,
Weld a nut to the end of the lock and take it off,
Smach a socket on it then use (if around) an impact wrench and rip it off.
Get a Tap and Die set and thread through the lock, put a bolt in there, weld around the bolt and impact wrench it out.
Buy this http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/ame400.html
or http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/lt4000.html
Or forget about it......

they used the little open end lugnuts, they are only like not even a 1/2 inch, so they are like way down in the lug holes

if they were the big long closed end nut i think it would make it easier to get them off

That's a 92-95 EX front lip. Looks like it. Kinda diff from a 99-00 SI front lip. SI lips all came painted.

Would look whack mounted up. Doesn't flare the little bit the SI does. But good for free. :)

what kinda locks... i imagine the older types, so do like titan said. grab a deepwell socket thats a size smaller than the lock and pound it over the lock with a big effen hammer, then just unscrew the locks.

Theres a REALLY simple way to get them off, but the hub will come off with them. You just pop off the center cap, and unbolt the axle nut and remove the caliper bolts (should be able to get to them if you can get the guys to put the car up on a forklift), then just pull the wheels straight off of the axle, you can worry about the lugs at home.
