Side Moldings

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

Side Moldings

Post by hansken_yo » Tue Mar 06, 2007 8:50 pm

Sooo.. I removed the side Molidngs, and though the contour of the car looks WAY better, the drastic color changes in the paint are not as appealing to me.

This leaves me with two questions.
What can be done about the paint situation? (is there anything reasonable short of repainting the car?)

What can be used to re-apply the side molding?

Thanks

As far as paint.. trying giving it a LONG buffing session to see if that does anything. And to reapply.. how were they applied when you took them off? If not use spray adhesive by 3M, that stuff has a near permanent hold.

Try spending the $100 in Zanio products and follow lambostealths write up on getting a mirror finish. It might help.

you put them back on and i'll go take them off and beat you with them.

in the meantime just try some polish and then wait for a sunny day, park the car in the sun, and thats that.

very much so! i have seen a difference on the doors where the molding used to be. it still needs some time but im taking the car to be buffed before carisle so it really dont matter.

Yah, just let it sit in the sun for awhile, everyone usually says it'll fade to where it isn't noticeable anymore...

yeah! that is what mine looks like... gray (lighter than mine) not graphite. I hope it gets better... I already did some buffing with pre-wax coat and it had a minimal effect.

:withstupid:

The paint will gradually start matching the color that the strips weren't covering. I'd do the same to mine, but well... Yeah, that's another thread. :banghead:

Zaino is not the end all wax. Stop promoting it like it's the best shit next to a blow job in a car from some sexy bitch.

Zaino is good, but sometimes not worth the process. :)

As for the sun, I'm sure she'll get plenty of that were I am, so I'll just wait it out and hopefully it changes... I'll also do another go around in the next month and give her a wax job  starting with another pre-coat.
