ok so im ready to take another directions with my cars image. the red body and white accent has to go.. i was thinking of going with red and black.. so instead of buying new rims i went to super auto bacs and bought semi gloss black/ flat black.. i like my rims and would rather keep them instead of buying new ones... i wanted to get them powder coated and fixed but $100 x4 wheels isnt convincing..
so now i have black wheels and still have the white graphics on, and it bugs me cuz its clashing with my mental picture.. I tried to peel off some that takes direct sun light and seels like they dried up into the paint.. i was thinking i could use goo gone to rub off the stickers but not sure its going to work.. might even damage my paint and i dont want to risk it. does anyone have any idea what i could use to peel them off.
this pic was taken after the first coat was applied...

there is a peice made specifically for it ... a big eraser ... (big rubber disc that attaches to a drill) that will make quick work of removing it .. check around at autoparts houses ... and paint supply stores .. and tell them you need a vinyl graphic eraser disc ...
with the amount you have on your car it will take a few hours ... then you will need some googone or another adhesive removed to do a good final wipedown ...
then you will need a good polishing and buffing...

yeah thats going to be a long weekend project for me.. i dont want to use something that scrubs the vinyl off the paint.. i dont want to risk damaging the paint.. i was thinking more like applying some solution that breaks down the vinyl and makes it easy to peel off..

i can tell you from experience ... the rubber 'eraser' i am speaking of is much safer for the paint then any chemical you will put on there to break it down enough to remove it ...
you don't put heavy pressure on it .. just lightly run it across the graphics till it breaks them down and then you use a light adhesive remover to clean the rest of it off...
only other option is using a heat gun ... but depending on how long the vinyl has been on there ... that may end up with just 1,000's of peices breaking off while you are burning the shit out of your fingers....

yeah that big eraser thing works pretty good i have used that at school. im going to school for auto body work. heres one of those eraser things
https://www.autobodytoolmart.com/p-11975-14703.aspx. and another thing like devil said you dont want alot pressure on it. it will create alot heat and damage your paint.

this looks like a goog idea and very tempting. but the price range of $300 of it doesnt seem pocket friendly.. i have a dremel i could plug it to if i could only buy the wheel..

go by your local paint supplier store (auto paint) and tell them you want a vinyl graphic eraser .. you can buy just it ... with a chuck to mount in a drill .. thats what i have used off and on for the past few years...
http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?item ... pe=PRODUCT
that is the exact one i have ... you just put it in the drill and gently press it against the graphic .. once you have done it in a few places you will see how it works and figure out the pattern for the rest of the car ... it will clean up pretty goo don its on... but you will still need to use an adhesive remover spray and then a good buffing afterwards so the paint will match (not fading, but more for the areas where the decal was .. there will be less scratching, and if you polished / waxed the car often there will be a light buildup around where the graphic was)

I just started peeling off the vinyl on the Scion. I spent about 3 hours just on the drivers side and I'm still not finished yet. This seems like a better way, I just know I'd burn threw the paint!

you have to push extremly hard and leave it there for a while to burn through the paint with the eraser ... i have stripped a full sized panel van that had a full graphic on each side in about 2 hours including final wipedown of the residue ... using the eraser... once it was buffed afterwards .. you couldn't tell it was even there...
