I have a 2000 dodge neon and want to remove that side strip on my neon. I have it and wondering how do i remove it. Also what should I expact to see after I do and what should I do. Thanks

just pull it off slowly, you could heat it VERY carefully with a heat gun and then pull..
after it is gone rub it with rubbing comound and it should look great!

Lol im scared thought. I would rather not use a heating gun. So if i pull it off there will be marks i guess. What rubbing comoud should i use? and thanks btw

Theres a gagillion threads on this.

But I am a nice dood. Use a typical hair dryer heat up the little area you are gonna start to peel off. Since you have an 00, it might take some paint with it. Peel a portion off after it is heated and check the area out. You will probably see a bunch of adhesive gunk. Now get some Tar & Bug remover or Goo B Gone and spray that area and take a paper towel and rub that adhesive crap off and see what you got, if the paint is noticeable a different color or some of it is gone, just glue that piece back on.
Hopefully this is not the case and it just has small bubbles that will fade over time or no bubbles at all.
But since you have a 2000 odds are against you...

Yeah sorry but thanks though. Im going to try it and see if paint peels. Hopefully it works out good for me bc i hate the strips. Thanks alot

it looks a world better with those side moldings off and i highly recommend you do it.


dunno what was up with my car, but the paint was bubbled up under the side moldings and under the spoiler where it mounts to the trunk lid. it sucked finding that.

I also have a 2000 and I did mine about 3 months ago and it was very easy! No paint came up at all just alot of goo underneath and the paint was alittle discolored..but it does make a big difference!

i wouldn't remove it w/ my 00 neon..it's jmo

it helps to avoid doors or carts from hit my car

^^hardly, the door bows in somewhat and these things do nada for protection - especially if it is a truck door they are purely cosmetic, I do not car what dodge calls them or claims they do - they do nothing.

My car did not come with them. Then again, ACR's come with nothing on em but engine and suspension

i sprayed on an adhesive remover first then used a scraper and carefully scraped all the adhesive crap off and a paper towel to clean it up some more but yeah i have the same model/color as you and it was discolored but not-noticable from far away

if it has just alittle discoloration, just set your car out in the sun for a week. it'll fade into each other

if your car has never been repainted then chances are it wont be bad at all.. but, if you have had the car painted.. i wouldn't suggest it.. because mine are off.. and you can definatly see where it was before.. no biggy as i need a paintjob anyways.. but just thought id throw my 2 cents in
