03+ Black grill removal help!!

Post by yellowpatrol » Tue Apr 24, 2007 1:54 pm

Ok, bumper is off, chrome pieces are off, and the black part is halfway off. I can't get it to come off all the way, I think I know why. It looks like the little red guys are holding it in, but I can't get them to release. I already broke one, so I want to know the right way to do it. Pics:

In this pic you can see how I fubared the red dudes:

Okay, well just in case anyone was wondering, the method of choice is a crowbar.

bad idea to lay your bumper on the ground like that... it's gonna be scratched to shit man.

It already was scratched up pretty good, and the license plate holder kept it from touching the concrete anyway.

sawsall ftw!.

Seriosly, get a few towels or something and lay in on them if ur gonna have it on the cement like that.

Im guessing you could get a flathead screwdiver, and push the red parts down, and pull on the grill.

lol. Yeah, I was just happy to finally have it off so I didn't think of towels or anything. It's over any done with now though. I'll remember that stuff for next time. For anyone else who has trouble with this, I used a crowbar. It works pretty nicely. Thanks for the posts, guys.

Right now I put the bumper back on, but the grill insert is not in it. The paint can said it takes 24 hrs to dry, so I will have to re-remove the bumper tomorrow, put the grill in it, and then re-re-install it. Yuck.

I already posted a pic of the "red dudes" though. Just scroll up.
