Is this bumper warped?? Can it be repaired?

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

Is this bumper warped?? Can it be repaired?

Post by deep1ca » Mon Jul 23, 2007 8:42 am

Hi Guys

This bumper is made out of ABS and it sorta looks abit warped,...are ABS bumpers really that flexible that once bolted on it would straighten it self out or would it remind warped? Can warped bumpers be fixed? I heard something about fabricating bracing for the back of the bumper to keep it straightened out.

Thanks.

when you install it add some heat to the bumper via hairdryer or and heater, I would also heat it up prior to install as well then when it kewls it should conform a bit.

agree, buy yourself a cheap heatgun. what you want to do is heat it up just a bit, enough where you can grab it with both hands and feel if the plastic is plyable. then using both hangs again, pulling the area that is too high down.

some people wet a rag down and put it in the freezer for a bit until its cold but not frozen. they use this to quickly cool down the area that they heat up in order to lock the plastic into that location. you can use this too.

You won't need any heat, as soon as you bolt it up, it will take it's intended shape.
