Try this. Might I suggest looking through the how-to section? I've found it very informative and it has answered a lot of questions I have had about my car.

its all in the prep work ... if you are willing to take the time to strip off what is on there if it is loose .. and sand, scuff it up good .. then primer , paint , clear ... then you can have a paint that will last 5+ years if taken care of ...

paint still scratches really easy though, take it from me, I have had two sets of painted rims, well at least 2 different colors, and with wheels, they get lots of abuse. SO, if you can find it, get them powder coated. BEST route. I know here in town there is a guy who will do it for $25 a wheel.

yeah powdercoating is the best option .. and cheaper then painting them yourself ...
tho i have a set that i painted back in 01 ... that today, they still don't have but one or two chips off of the paint job .. and thats even after a tire change and a few re balance jobs.

HOLY post resurrection.....now if i go to get them powder coated is there any way to fill in scratches or curb rash.....can you repair that or am i basically just going to end up painting over the gashes?

depending on how deep they are, they can be sanded / ground smooth ...
there are some fillers that can be used and powdercoated over .. but never heard of them being used ... mostly people just sand / grind .. to get a smooth surface ...
