it is some kind of epoxy. it looks like it is going to peel of the clearcoat. i might just have to repaint the hood. i tried goo gone, but it wont touch the stuff.

yeah, if it's epoxy then you're gonna have to repaint the hood. i'd wait to remove it till you're ready to repaint it

I had a wing piece that fit on the rear window that was held on with an adhesion promoter and super strong 3M exterior tape...was a BITCH to get off. I have a LOT of stuff stuck to my window still.
If you're talking about getting a similar substance off your hood nice and neat and clean like, it isn't going to happen for you trust me.
There is a liquid adhesion remover for it but it will unfortunately also remove your paint.

In the meantime just wire up some lights and a fogger in it!

instead of trying to take it off and mess up the paint, look for a used carbon fiber hood for cheap and just use it

i took it off with pure willpower and discovered two sheet metal screws hidden under it. spectacular. the pics will be up tomorrow. looking for a hood now. thanks for the ideas.

I've heard that Hoppes 9 (gun cleaning) will take adhesive off without messing up the paint. I have not tried it.
