time for a new wiring harness?

how do i know if i need to get a new one? i wired up fog lights to the daytime running light and now neither they nor the rear lights are working. i cant drive my damn car at night now without being scared of getting pulled over for that or gettin rear ended. i swear i fix one damn thing on this car and then something else craps out on me.

I'd check the fuses first.

doesnt sound like you "fixed" anything for something else to go wrong.. lol

how did you wire up the fogs to the DRL? did you use a relay and everything or did you actually wire them TO the DRL? in which case you may have blown a fuse or two, or burnt out some wires, or both

i wired them straight to the DRL. checked all the fuses and none are blown. my cluster also wont light up so im gonna have a "fun" time trying to figure out how fast im going.

Jt i fixed my stupid throttle body just last week which was making my car bog down like crazy. completely unrelated but i fixed it none the less lol.

yeah umm dont think it was a good idea to actually connect them and try to run them from the DRL. youre supposed to use a relay and power the fogs from the battery. whats your problem? well i dont know, but obviously that was the source.

my neighbor had a problem with his car that sounds similar, no lights would work or anything.. i guess something went wrong when he put in his new cd player.. some wire wasnt right or something.. i dont know what it was but it was a $400 fix... i know this doesnt help or apply to this exactly, but it just sounds similar

it probably wont help at this point but id try disconnecting the fogs and see if that changes anything

I'd put it back the way it was and do it the right way.

just finished putting everything back to stock. i still have no drl's and my cluster still wont light up.

note: I was told on the other dot org that you can not run DRL on a US Spec neon because the key to them working is in the cluster. So unless you have the relay plugged in and the wires wired up, and the CDN cluster, you cant run DRL's.

maybe im wording it wrong. so when i click just once on the mfs what are those lights that come on called? the little square ones on a 2001 neon?

thanks big bird for helping us kids get smarter all the time. i opened her up and took a look to see if my mfs harness was ok and it turns out its cracked and melted looking guess im a have to go get a new one. i just need to look up the part number for it.
