I would love to paint for a living, or even a hobby, but I don't have the time or the place. I do little things here and there but as a career its just not possible. Its not a female friendly world, nor is it a health friendly world. Its just evil all around.

I could care less if a girl paints my stuff, as long as it's a good job for a cheap price LOL

Well most would agree with you, but the 60 year old dude who's been fixing cars since the Kennedy Administration doesn't like the fact that females are in a male dominated world. I'm going back into medicine where I belong. :)

I plan on doing this tomorrow. =) I don't have a sander so I will be sanding using elbow grease. Its not like a big part you know.

So far I have gathered that I need 150 grit to remove the paint. then 220, 320, then 600 according to theTeejmeister.

400 and 600 is all I need according to LilsparkPlug.

Bulldog adhesion promoter? Anything similar I can pick up at Wally World? And what clear to you recommend?

Thanks a ton, I will post results and what I used.

I'd prefer to have a female paint my stuff. They're usually crazy enough to get it right the first time and not slack off.

Ha ha!! Crazy enough! That works :) Females are statisically better painters than males due to better abilities to distinguish colors.

You could get reducer and remove your paint. Brake cleaner will take it off too, BUT on a plastic such as that it will penetrate into the surface and create a difficult area to prep properly. Walmart may sell an adhesion promoter, not sure I never checked.

Never heard of that clear before or any clear in general. How about the duplicolor clear thats common.

I've still yet to find the color I'm blind to. Apparently all males have at least one, but my eyesight is 20/10, so who knows if I'm awesome about being color-not-blind, too.

Well coming back home from jury duty  I stopped at an advanced auto and got a 11 oz can of Dupli-Color Adhesion promoter. $5.50 a can.
http://duplicolor.com/products/adhesion.html

They didn't carry 600 grit sandpaper so I am going to make a trip to the Home Depot and get 400 and 600. Probably be cheaper too. I have some duplicolor clear in the garage and of course the silver paint in the can from the dealership.

Well 400 is not taking the paint off at all. So I tried 150 and that still doesn't take it off! Well it started to come off, but what a PITA!

I am just gonna do 150,400, that primer stuff I got, and then paint.

That adhesion promoter is great! They turned good! Took my sweet time!

Sanded 400 over the paint really good.
Rinsed with water
Alcohol prep pads
Let dry for 30 or so minutes
Put 3 coats of the adhesion primer. Waiting 3 minutes between coats
Put 4 light coats of the silver paint. Waiting 5 minutes between coats
Waited an hour and put on 3 coats of clear waiting 3 or so minutes between coats.
