hey everyone,

I was looking on autopia.org and read that some of the fog on headlights can be removed by swirl remover, but only on certain plastics. Now if its the wrong plastic it can cause it to be worse. Has anyone tried this? If it would cause more damage then I do not want to try it, but my one headlight is foggy and the other one is starting to become foggy.

it works on the neon lights ... just take your time .. i have done several ..

one thing to consider though ... for the price and time you spend on cleaning them .. most of the time just a little more $ and you can get a new aftermarket set

wet sanding (with very fine sanding paper), they will look great !!!

Ok for the swirl remover, what would you guys try, what do you recommend? I may try the swirl remover this weekend.

about 1200 grit , then 2000 and wax them. for 1gns which can get really bad I've started with 400 grit and worked my way up to 2000. the thing is you have to keep after the old ones that yellow badly, just a little plishing compound and wax every couple of months, but the 2gn's aren't as bad from my experience.

Edit: That shifter looks like it will bite your fingers if you miss a shift!

Just throwing this out there.... I used Maguiars PlastX which worked wonders on the outside of the headlights...... but, after it was all said and done the inside of the lenses still had issues because of the condensation build up. I was told that I would have to open them up in order to make them like new again. So, since I'm not going to open them and screw anything up, I'll be waiting for something new....

I hope you have better luck with your attempt.

Last night I went and bought Mequiars PlastX so hopefully it does something...I will keep ya posted, trying this weekend. My buddy says it didn't really do much when he tried it on his G/F neon and he used a buffer

most of the time the headlamps are to foggy for plastx to make much of a difference .. it is more of a finishing item.

I used the plastx and it did a bit, I think a little more work and they will be better....idk it has done an ok job...going to try to use again.
