Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

I'm not that familiar with body work, I mostly stick with mechanical stuff but I'm trying to do a project and I have a couple of things I am having a hard time figuring out.

1. Does anyone know what kind of plastic SRT bumpers are made of?
2. Anyone know what kind of plastic 00-02 R/T and Non R/t bumpers are made or?

If you've had any experience repairing either type of plastic, any tips? What epoxy is recommened for bonding different types of plastic together, what epoxy for repairing tears.

Also what 3M Tape is recommended for installing sideskirts? PN would be helpful.

They're both made of ABS plastic.

I have no idea about bonding and what not though.

there are a few otherways of bonding ABS like http://www.weldguru.com/plasticrepair.html

and the best tape is the grey or black 3M tape part no;4011.you can find it at auto stores or even wallmart

edit; hey i forgot about tap plastics they have a great selection of stuff for repairs and fabrication,and are a good place to order carbon fiber fabric ect

Thermoplastic Olefin: TPO is what the SRT bumpers are made of. I can't speak for the neon bumpers though. :)

Just make sure the SMC repair composite you decide to use is recommended for TPO.

Thanks :thumbup: I think I can figure out what the reg neon bumper is, All I have left of the srt bumper is the lip so there was no stamping that I could find. Now I just have to find an epoxy that will bond TPO to whatever the neon bumper is

TPO for the stock neon too... i did custom work on my car last year that needed some bonding. if you go to a local paint/body jobber they'll be able to point you to EXACTLY what you need/they have. then they'll be able to tell you EXACTLY how to use THAT product
