I know this is an old how to, but i just thought of something. If you link your high and low's together via the diode, couldn't you in theory run a switch between the diode and the low beam itself? that way you can flip the switch during the day so you can flash your highs, then flip the switch again so you have the original use of the diode?

That makes no sense.
If you flash the high beam during the day it just works very well.
The solenoid flips and the current goes through the diode to the hid ballasts. So light turns on in high beam mode and of when you let of the switch.
Just don't make too short flashings. Klick-klick-klick-klick...
Hold the multi switch for >1 second or you will destroy the ballasts.

I know this is an older post, but i was randomly looking at it again.
Since this happened to me, I feel it would be good information to point out that my MFS harness melted like this BEFORE I had HIDS or anything, It was the STOCK halogen bulbs. Now that I have projectors and HIDs, I obviously have a relay harness on my 01 which melted previously, and also a relay on my SRT when i added HIDs last year. No problems since!

So please, For the love of the Neons! USE A RELAY HARNESS! Not worth a fire!
