im looking into get a hid kit but im lose on what lighting to get. does anyone have any pic of what the hid looks like on the road and list the color so i can tell what color will look like at night

I don't have a picture of my 4300K kit but I can get you one tomorrow. 4300K is the brightest (and best imo) with 5000K and 6000K having slightly less road visibility. Over 6000K and you're just throwing lumens out the window.

On my Cadillac I upgraded my stock HID headlights to 6000k and added a kit to my fogs at 6000k. Its the brightest white and with the fogs on its crazy bright. I have Silverstar Ultras in my highbeams and they are nowhere near as bright as my lowbeams

If you are putting HIDS in a halogen housing don't expect great things. If you do decide to go this route use only a 4300k, 5000k or 6000k rating light. 8000k+ not only look stupid, they dont function well either.

If you're using a projector like the ones off ebay, check out glasswars' thread, that will give you all the info you need.

VVME.com is the cheapest I have found the kits themselves. I bought off them and recieved them in two days...from china. Interesting to say the least LOL. But they work. I have 4300k bulbs in OEM HID projectors, or what is more commonly known as a retrofit....retrofits are 800+ dollars which is why you see more people with ebay projectors and HIDs in stock housings than anything else.

Crystal, how is the quality of the VVME hid kit? less than 50 bucks is a remarkable deal.

and how much do they charge to ship them? do they come with the relay harness, or do they not need it?

Every aftermarket HID kit run in a Halogen car needs a relay harness. They do not come with them you would have to buy one off ebay. Shipping depends on where you live. I ended up paying something stupid like $80.00 to ship two HID kits and an extra ballast. But then again the total price was less than $200 for all that so factoring the "shipping" in it was still way cheaper than anywhere else.

Here is a picture of my VVME's in HID PROJECTORS. I put that in caps because you won't see the same light pattern with a halogen housing/stock housing. Nor the same amount of output. This was taken the day I put them in, before I aimed them.

thanks for the info it is very helpful. has many people had any problems for the projector headlights i remember reading somewhere the lens was meltting from the hids what wattage bulbs would be best?

The HID's in the Modern Performance and Ebay projectors melt the projector housing itself because they aren't meant for HIDS. The back of them say Halogen only, No HID.

Quite a few people around here have run them w/o problem, but I do remember one person having the issue. I think it was with a halogen bulb though. I'm still puzzled as to why that happens. Besides at startup, HIDs run cooler than their halogen counterparts.

Very true. There are some who have them that have had no issue at all. I'm not sure what the factor is that causes them to melt. All HIDs, with the exception of a couple of manufacturers, run at the same wattage, 35W. But the gas is burning at x amount of Kelvins. Its quite possibly those who have higher Kelvin rating bulbs (over 8k) that cause these issues.

Thats the wattage of the bulbs. It takes around 10,000volts to fire up an HID bulb, hence the need for a relay harness so it doesn't set fire to your factory electrical system (multifunction switch).

35w is what you should run, theres not a large difference between a 35 and a 50 in terms of HID bulbs (of which BlingLights.com is the only place I've seen the 50).

Shit those things catch fire no matter what. That's my only real complaint about Chrysler vehicles: The electronics that come in them.

I've had HIDs in my car with a relay harness for 90,000 miles with no issues to my MF switch yet. The relay harness really does help. And actually I've only had to replace the relay once, for water damage. I have a relay harness on my foglights too, just to be safe.

The mutifunction switches don't need HIDs to catch themselves on fire.

i hear ppl taking about the relays where do they get them from ?
