so i clean my car alot and wax it when needed but i can never get it to really shine as much as i would like, is there anything i can do to make it shine more? or any producty or tips you guys may have to help?

i use armor all products on me exterior and it brings out a nice shine

well,when i am doing my twice yearly shine up i wash my car with some dawn dish soap to remove the wax and contaminates,then i do the mothers clay bar working on one panel at a time,then when my paint feels nice and smooth with no grainy texture to it a=i move on to the miguires 123 system,its a paint cleaner,polisher,and wax.i use a small 6 in rotary buffer to apply the cleaner and polish and finish by hand with the wax and a few micro fiber towels.i always use micro fiber towels or new terry cotton towels when touching my paint.to reduce swirl marks ect.
it is not as good as zaino but its not bad for the price.here is my car after a week with no wash



it adds good depth to your paint,hope that helped a lil

theTeejmiester i'll think i givethat a shot, i can't get zaino here in canada for some reason atleast i can't find a way to. So i think i'll give that a shot. i've been using the " ICE" polish and cleaner and its just not doing it for me. The shine is just not mirror enough. But i also never did the dawn soap thing, i used ice soap.

I recommend MeGuires NXT paste wax(in the round tin). I've been using that on my car and I love it...

I've used alot of products, here are my top two:
- SurLuster Paste Wax
- 3M No. 5 Paste Wax

Other favorites:
- Prestone
- Meguiars NXT
- Meguiars Gold Class
- Mothers Cleaner Wax
- Mothers California Gold
- Turtle Wax Black
etc. etc. etc.

My shine with SurLuster, not washed in over a week. Just California dusted. Ask Brodie if you don't believe me on the gloss level:

Also keep in mind PS2 silver isn't much of a reflective color, the cleaner it gets, instead of reflecting and shining, it kind of just gets brighter, hah. Espeically when the sun is on it.

You're paint looks GREAT, but not a fair comparison at all! You have better paint than any of the factory painted cars here, plus, your's was probably cut and buffed properly.

PS: You will never find a Turtle Wax product in my garage other than thier platinum wheel cleaner........I use it on the non-paying freinds cars I detail.

The Turtle Wax black works miracles on the B-pillar trim, and does a great job on black cars. I usually apply that first to a black car, and then use a full caranuba wax over it. I did my mom's Black 300C that way and it came out killer. Needs to be done again though.

My paint will be two years old this September. The paint, as you see it, is how it came out of the booth. The car has NEVER been wetsanded or buffed, ever. I waited a month and then waxed it (except the black that can't be waxed). So......yeah, no wetsanding/buffing for me.

Well after 7 - 8 years as a daily driver the paint on my Neon is certainly no longer pristine; however...

-Meguiar's Step 1 Deep Crystal Cleaner
-Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax

...on it and I am still pleased with the results of that application it now being mid-July. I'm taking the first week of August off so if the weather cooperates and I get the time I may put another coat on then for the winter.

i guess that means if we want to keep our cars looking good, then we have to work twice as hard as you guys down there?

but yes, they're harsh winters, and that doesn't mean we just don't bother to keep our cars clean, or let them go to crap.

i drive my car in the winter, and in the summer, when i go to town on the thing with a multi step process, the paint still looks brand new. plus, i have to worry about rust on the underside of the car, because of the thousands of tonnes of salt they use on the roads up here in the winter.

i'm going to be trying the process in the sticky on the top of this thread though, to get an even better shine. p.s, lambo, hell of a write up man. i'm going to see if i can get my hands on some zaino up here in the cold north.

did i mention we all live in igloos up here?

Yea scott i have some zaino coming from zaino.ca but for right now i'm just using the meguires 3 step process. It makes my car look alot brighter with a decent shine but nothin like the mirror of zaino.
