And so far it's a bubble fest. Lots of tiny, tiny bubbles. What do you guys think? Should I keep going? Is there any harm in leaving the bubbles exposed now? Do they chip off?

They mite chip off over time i think.

Ooooo if it's bubble fest I'd stop there. Don't touch it and just deal with the side moldings. Not worth having to get the door repainted.

Alrighty so I just said fuck it and went with it. The other doors are not as bad as the passenger front. The tiny bubbles are fine but the big bubbles have started to chip. I have some touch up paint on hand, luckily my moms 300C is the same color. Pictures in the progress log later today. I still gotta wash it and get the rest of the crap off.

That's the reason i never took mine off.

the first time i took the molding off, it was fine, no bubbles at all........then a kid hit the side of my car and the car got painted on the driver side............dumbass fucking body shop put NEW MOLDINGS ON, EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM TO LEAVE THEM OFF!!!

went to pull the molding off, ripped paint right off with it..........i was so pissed off

If it was me in that boat, I would put the door moldings back on. Just my .02

Wow that sucks. Mine came right off, no problem. Adhesive stuck really well to the doors, though, and I had to get it professionally removed. PX8 FTMFW

I had/have the same issue. The small bubbles will probably be soft and squishy when you first pull off the mouldings-mine were. Then they finally hardened and aren't chipping or anything else.

It happens because Dodge puts the mouldings on before the paint cures, like I told ya in the other thread. The small bubbles shouldn't be anything other than an annoyance to look at, my car has had them exposed for around 2 years now I think and they're fine.

If you get the car or doors resprayed, just remember to take that part of the door all the way down to the bare metal and start again. Otherwise, it'll bubble up again. This all comes from a friend of mine, who is a pro painter/neon enthusiast on another board.

Even with the bubbles the cars still look better without the mouldings. That said, I say go for it, if you don't like how it looks, you can always put them back on.

happened to me on one side but the rest were fine
and yea the buble will eventually chip off. but i temporarly put some touch up paint on it and it looks fine in pictures

this is why I never have taken mine off.

I have bubbles under mine, but they aren't noticeable unless you look for them. Sometimes it takes me a few seconds to point them out to a friend. They haven't chipped either.

When are you guys pulling your moldings off? I did mine in the middle of a hot day, and used fishing line. Are you just getting your fingers underneath and pulling?

I used an old credit card and slippd it behind the mouldings, then used a rag soaked in lighter fluid to rub the excess adhesive off.

I also used fishing line and a hair dryer (lowest setting) and on a beautiful normal day in sunny southern California.

Oh shit i didnt even notice at all at the meet of any bubbles or discoloration O.O

Not at all. The paint, is as if it was without the moldings and emblems from day 1. You would never have known that it didn't come from the factory this way.

when i took mine off ther were no bubbles... I let the car sit in the constant sun for a few hours and they peeled off with no problems.... that sucks to hear you have bubbles...

I guess it is a 50/50 chance, half the people say they have bubles and half say they didn't. 19's did you get that black paint job after you removed the side moldings or before?

Yes I did Karr...and I removed them today, but I wasn't completely finished with removing all the glue, and I wasn't able to wash my car either...and I work tomorrow so I will have to wash it some other day. For the mean time, I got a couple of pics.
I don't mean to thread jack, but I didn't want to make a whole new thread and waste you people's times...


I know my fender is ugly. What do you guys think it will cost just to paint that one fender at a shop?

one million dollars!!! lol i dunno like 250 somewhere in that range.
