I'm still yet to find one im gonna keep my eye out but i just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing anything since it doesn't have harnesses with it. its gonna be a little bit before everything goes on i wanna have everything together for my front end so i only end up installing everything once.Jenni wrote:Buy a blinker/light switch with the foglight switch!

except to make it work like factory he would need the MFS, fuse box stuff, wiring harness, etc...Jenni wrote:Buy a blinker/light switch with the foglight switch!
its easier i think to just do the aftermarket wiring
go read the how to for the fog light wiring, its pretty much what youd have to do even with the hid kit. its actually the same..

Its one of the easiest things to do. Its four philips screws, and i think its two torx screws, then just disconnect. I believe thats it. i may be forgetting something tho

with the MFS the fuse box (side of dash) still needs to be hooked up right for fogs.. or you gotta bypass it somehow.. or something. . i dont really know the specifics.. but the MFS goes to the fuse box by default.. still seems more difficult to achieve the stock look/feel than to do custom wiring.. unless the MFS switch will just be in place of the normal toggle switch and you go with custom wiring from there. .but then i think youd have to find the wire from the MFS to route to the relay..
as for the fog harness i somewhat recall a part number request that was like $200+ for the fogs.. i think it might have been a full kit though.. dont quite remember.. check the part number request forum ..
as far as doing custom wiring.. get some fog light plugs from store X (the only place i actually found them was $20+ each).. junk yard.. or autolumination.com ($3.50 each + shipping) .. you need the 800 series plug.. maybe the high temp one if they have it.. just for the hell of it even though hid burns cooler.

My whole idea is to keep my car as OEM as possible the fogs are the last thing i need to do to make it "fully loaded" and i think that was the kit or the 00-02 that was 200 even if i custom wire the mfs i want it to appear stock.jT wrote:with the MFS the fuse box (side of dash) still needs to be hooked up right for fogs.. or you gotta bypass it somehow.. or something. . i dont really know the specifics.. but the MFS goes to the fuse box by default.. still seems more difficult to achieve the stock look/feel than to do custom wiring.. unless the MFS switch will just be in place of the normal toggle switch and you go with custom wiring from there. .but then i think youd have to find the wire from the MFS to route to the relay..

You will be spending a good amount of money for a stock wiring harness for the foglights. This is a wiring harness that you do not want to power your hid ballasts with.
You are still going to need an aftermarket wiring harness, something with its own fuse and relay, and draws power from your battery instead of the stock wiring.
Buy the aftermarket wiring harness, install it like normal, and then find something to tap into to get a signal, to turn them on and off. Easiest thing to use for a signal is the sidemarker lights, and then you can install a switch to turn them on or off when the sidemarker lights are on. Or find something else to tap into for a signal...
Do not use the stock wiring harness for power, you will end up making more a mess than anything else. Also, with the bumper removed, some zip ties, heat shrink tubing, and some wire loom, you will be able to make your aftermarket HID fog setup looking 100% OEM. Just take your time...

Okay makes alot of sense actually do you know where to get a after market harness? and could i still wire up the mfs switch to make the fogs come on?03_SXT wrote:You will be spending a good amount of money for a stock wiring harness for the foglights. the wiring harness he is talking about would normally connect to your stock fog light wiring.. just like the harnesses that come with headlight hid kits so it would plug into the stock 9007 plug and then go to the hid bulb but drawing power from the battery instead of through the stock wires
but since you dont have any fog light wiring at all this is not the wiring harness he is talking about (well it is, i think, but i'm not sure if he saw that you dont have any stock wiring to use)
what he is talking about (more or less) is exactly the custom wiring how-to (like i already said) except using the hid fogs.. the process is essentially the same.
but instead of using a toggle switch (like the how to) you can most likely figure out a way to make use of the MFS (as the toggle switch) but you are still going to need custom wiring from the how to
its basically a combination of installing hid headlights and the custom aftermarket fog light wiring how to that will get the job done
unless you want to spend the extra cash to really make it stock first from the MFS to the fuse box all the way down to the wiring to the bumper, and then add the hid fogs after that --- still requiring the custom wiring from the how-to

im thinking find out what wires on that mfs make the fogs power then hook the hids to the battery use appropriate fuses and wire it that wayjT wrote:the wiring harness he is talking about would normally connect to your stock fog light wiring.. just like the harnesses that come with headlight hid kits so it would plug into the stock 9007 plug and then go to the hid bulb but drawing power from the battery instead of through the stock wires

The harness I am talking about it an aftermarket one. Check out eBay and search for relay harness and you'll find what you need. Just keep in mind that most of the relay harness's aren't very long, so you can either make your own, or just buy some good quality 10-16 gauge wiring and extend the kit yourself...

A wire harness doesn't actually connect to exsisting wiring (at least in this case). A wire harness simply draws power from the battery, a ground from the battery, a positive signal from the sidemarker lights, and signal ground from any wire thats nearby. This eleminates the need for a stock wiring harness, and also protects against any wiring damage cause by a ballast drawing power from stock wire harness.jT wrote:yeah but he still has no existing fog light wiring to connect the harness to..
By doing this, you wont need to add in a switch. Everytime you put your 'parking lights' on, the HID foglights will turn on as well...

guess we are just talking about different things. i'm referring to the full harness that youd use with the stock wiring to convert for use a hid kit.. like the headlights. it connects to the 9007 socket for the signal... so i was referring to the same sort of thing (and thought you meant the same too) to connect to the fog light sockets03_SXT wrote: A wire harness doesn't actually connect to exsisting wiring (at least in this case).
but true even with what you said its the exact same process as the how to for aftermarket fog lights, just eliminating the toggle switch
