02 R/T front.

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

02 R/T front.

Post by MyNeonSaysHi » Sat Aug 02, 2008 7:20 pm

Can it still be purchased from the stealership? Anyone have a part number or have a price?

Whats all needed to swap front ends with an SRT-4? I am thinking about doing the R/T front for my SRT. I found someone who has the same color R/T front that is willing to trade straight up. We would meet halfway.

Any modification have to be done to the windshield washer bottle, or intercooler?

Anything else?

Gap that bad with an SRT-4 hood?

Foglamp wiring different?

Opinions on if I should do it or not?

Thanks for reponses!

I don't think it's worth the bullshit, don't do it.

To those with half a brain it's going to be painfully obvious you're an SRT.

to me preventing HeatSoak and reducing the chances of having cooling issues is more important than the look.

The SRT engineers added a larger front opening and the Nostrils for a reason.

Heat Soak is a bitch, I wish my car came with a FMIC to help reduce underhood temps.

Very true statements. As for the last comment though, I haven't seen that many SRT guys do the 02 R/T front. I was just thinking one day and I was like shit... I have single exit exhaust, no SRT spoiler, and different wheels. Take off the rear badge throw an 02 R/T front on there and no one would know what hit them. But in all honesty I don't think its worth the hassle like you guys said. Plus the front doesn;t really line up with the skirts.

Thanks for the responses though.

It may be moot, but you answer your previous question;
#50189993AA $477 at my dealer. Ordering mine next week.

I do believe that's in primer. If there was a different color, there'd be a different part number for it. I can find out tomorrow.

You could always do the 02 + Si lip. ($150 + $60?) To me that is one of the most unique looks you could get.

Just in primer.

Steep yes, but me personally, Ive wanted one for years, and have never found a good used one at a price plus shipping, that wouldnt be close to dealer price anyway. They're hard to get ahold of anymore.

Me, I say do it. But use the Euro R/T bumper (no marker light holes) and it's a lot cheaper.

Part #5018992AA ....MSRP $281.00. It is listed as an export part, but there are 57 in the country right now. Hell, I have one at my dealership right now (I didn't use mine)

Also, keep in mind that you will need to change your headlamps. The '03-'05 are shaped differently (they will stick out past the bumper)

As far as the gap, check out my car. And I think the R/T spoiler flows with the SRT skirts just fine, but that's me

Keep in mind Mox, the SRT does have a larger grille area but unless the crash bar is removed allowing air to flow through the entire grille, the lower opening on the SRT grille where the stock FMIC is located is still roughly the same size as the opening in R/T bumpers. Also, don't forget the actual grille on the 01-02 R/T and all '02 bumpers... air can move through that as well similar to that of the nostrils.

Hey Dante, do you know if the blank on the euro bumper (where the side marker normally is) is flush with the rest of the bumper?

While the bumpers may be in the country, you cannot order one through a dealer. If you could, I would, as I already have an export R/T rear bumper and all the lights and such. Cant order export part numbers.

Flush, yes, but it is recessed around the opening. It almost looks like someone painted a marker lamp body colored

Incorrect. Any dealer can order Export parts as long as there is availability in this country (which there is). That's how I got mine. I work at the dealer and I have one right now. It doesn't take any magic contacts or anything, just a counterperson willing and able to do it.

The reason you can't order the tails and rear bumper is because no US depots have them.

Yep, it comes primered. And no extra shipping charges. It's just like ordering any other part, other than the counterperson having to make a phone call rather than order it online.

Thats awesome!

So Diablo0 only had a problem with the cowl melting? He wasn't running the SRT-4 hood either.

How about the foglights? Will the SRT-4 foglight bulbs plug right into the 02 R/T ones?

The fog bulbs are different iirc. The R/T seems to use a 9145 bulb, while the SRT uses a 899.

Correct, I'm not using the SRT hood and my cowl is melting.

SRT fogs won't work, the plugs are different. When I did my swap I cut the plugs off my '02 harness then spliced and soldered them into the SRT harness so I have plugs for both the SRT and R/T fog bulbs. That way if I ever decide to toss an SRT, SRT-D, or 03+ bumper the plugs are already there to make it easier going back and forth.

The R/T bumper also doesn't have as much clearance behind it for the FMIC so you'll have to cut the bumper the bumper will fit and clear the FMIC.

I'm not sure what to do for cooling either. Ever since I got the new wheels I just don't like the look of the front bumper any more... I want something that will allow airflow though.

Ill check into that, as I am ordering my bumper tomorrow. I tried once before several years ago, and was told by two different dealers that it was an export only part, and as such, no can do.

I dont doubt that your dealer has one, I managed to get my export rear bumper from a guy on the other .org, who worked at a dealer in CO.

If you have any problems having the dealer order it for you, PM me. I can call the dealer you are dealing with and find out why they are having a problem.

A lot of dealerships stop trying as soon as they see the (00004)EXPORT PART - CANNOT BE ORDERED; VERIFY APPLICATION. Many parts employees don't realize that the reason that message pops up is to prevent unobservant counterpeople from ordering wrong parts.

Image

this is with the rt skirts but still so goddamn sexy,im going to do this after the first of the year(i hope)
