Mine was bubbled underneath. It looked pretty bad. Don't do it unless you plan on painting your car soon. Well I guess it depends on where you live and the weather your car has been through.

I say go for it. I just recently took the moldings off of my 2000 and everything was fine. No bubbles, no fade, no blemishes of any kind what so ever.

sounds like a plan do I have to use heat to get them off or will fishing line back and forth work?

I guess I'm lucky. I pulled the side moldings off a 2001 (the car was about 3-4 years old). I just grabbed the moldings and pulled them slowly off by hand. Cleaned the residue with WD-40 and cleaned and polished the car after that. No problems at all.

But I seem to be in the minority

As for the door moldings and badges, this is just a heads up on how I achieved my success:

I use a hairdryer (Lowest setting) and some very thin fishing line (in a seesaw motion, keeping with the contour of the door and being careful not to lift up or pull away) to carefully remove the moldings and badges (1 letter at a time)(in our beautiful 75 degree California weather). I then used the hairdryer again to heat up the leftover adhesive and peeled it with my finger tip only (no nail). I got most of the leftover adhesive, but not all of it off. I then used some Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover and patently got the rest of the adhesive off of the paint. Then I used some rubbing compound followed by some polishing compound followed by a quick wax, until the next weekend when I did a full detail on the entire car. Also just to let you know I did this entire project over a 2 day period. Passenger side on Saturday (6 hours), then the Drivers side on Sunday (6 hours). I probably could have done this a lot faster but slow and steady wins the race, right? I'm by no means trying to scare you off, I just thought if you know what your getting yourself into you could plan ahead. Do it right, and enjoy your hard work for a lifetime of enjoyment.

I hope this is of some help.

Fishing line will work fine, as will an old credit card. When you're done pulling them off, you can use the lighter fluid that comes in the yellow bottle and a few clean rags to wipe off the excess adhesive. It worked perfectly for me and several others, so ou shouldn't have any problems.

And obviously, give the car a good cleaning and wax when you're done.

I took mines off last week. I first sprayed them with WD-40 and let that sit for 10 mins. Then I took a microfiber cloth and wraped it tight aronund a plastic putty knife. Then I pushed the knife as I pulled the molding. Came right off. I got the excess glue off with Goo Gone and my fingernails. I debadged the car the same way but I didnt have the putty knife wrapped. NOTE When I mean wrapped I mean just cover the knifes edge while still allowing the shape of the knife to be seen.

:withstupid: That's pretty much how I debadged mine. I used Goo-Gone and a plastic razor blade. The letters came off ultra easy, and then I cleaned up the glue residue with the Goo-Gone, done deal. I've just been too lazy to get rid of the side moldings though :slap: .
