Wax on Windsheild

Hello,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I am going to anyway.
I believe that at some point in time my front windsheild has been waxed. When it rains or when using the washer & wipers they are very streaky and blotchy. I have replace the wiper blades a few times thinking that they were the problem. I have also changed washer fluid several times suspecting that it might be the problem as well.
My question is, how do I get ALL of the wax and any exterior residue off my windsheild. Is there a solvent that I can use? or any tricks? I have used Stoney's invisible glass on it, windex, brake cleaner, I cannot get this off and its really driving me crazy.
Thanks for your help.

I would think lacquer thinner or acetone should cut through any wax on there. Just don't get it on your paint.

A safer way is to use Bon Ami (similiar to Comet) It won't scratch the glass and will strip any residues off. I have used it a few times with out any troubles. I think Comet is too agressive and may scratch the glass, so stick with Bon Ami.

Dawn dish washing soap. I know when I followed lambostealth's how to: on using Zaino, one of the first steps is to wash the car with Dawn dish washing soap to remove all wax from the paint. It did a great job of it to I might add.

just use the dawn, it'll work and it won't fuck anything up. Altho I personally like when the glass is waxed. Works better than rain-x, water just beads up and rolls off.

^ I'm with Wenuden. Wax on the windshield has always done a great job of allowing great visibility during the rains, teamed with good wipers.

Might want to do both cleaning and new wipers at the same time... because whatever is on the windshield is likely also on the wipers.

Only if he's got tint. If he does it works on the outside, where his wax will be. Tint + ammonia is very PURPLE= BAAAADDDD!

I always wax my windshield when I wash the car. It makes it way easier to see in the rain.

I am kind of afraid to take off all the wax off my car using dawn. When I re-wax it should I use 2 coats of wax?
