Depends on the elements, the sun, etc. It will fade over time, it has no protection, etc. Its only a matter of time before it will start to look like ass.

Ive used Duplicolor clear on all the lights ive done including mine and even though its not UV protected n all that they never faded, got hazy, chipped /cracked/peeled or anything bad.

IMO, you should have waited to nightshade them until you had all the necessary supplies. Chances are that, the paint will be blemished from weathering before you can get some clear on there and they will look bad. Maybe you should take the nightshade off, wait till you can buy clear, then do it all the right way.
...just saying.

Yes you could wait a couple of weeks, but you would have to re-wetsand the tails with 600 grit and then clear. Sometimes its better to wait until you have everything you need before starting the project. Although I know being anxious and wanting to get it done usually prevails.

hmm, my side markers and third brake light has been tinted for about a year and a half with no clear. haven't had an issue with it fading yet.

wait till you have all the materials. It will save you headaches and time later on. You can plan something now but you won't know what can happen or hit them within 2 weeks. I have learned that from experience.

I did mine once....had them done for a year or 2, and eventually it all faded off. But i used clear too,the duplicolor acriylic lacquer. It had a nice shine, but still faded.
my friend did his on his car, and they havent faded a bit w/ the same clear. maybe it just depends on your method and drying time and such.
