Brake Dust
So I'm washing my car today and I get to the wheels. I get the front ones clean off fairly nice and I move to the back ones. I spray some wheel cleaner on then and then clean them up good. I rinse them off and I still have brake dust caked onto the wheel. Now it's been a while since I last washed my car and I've had a rotation since then. But anyway, I spend about 10 mins on each wheel with a wire brush trying to get the caked on brake dust off with little success. Anybody have any tips on how I can get it off?

go to napa buy acid wheel cleaner about $10( do not get this on ur skin it can burn trust me on it) and a detail brush ( or a hard tooth brush will work also) spray the acid wheel cleaner on the rim let it sit for a min and then take the detail/tooth brush an scrub away.! 15- 20 mins u should be good to go!.
that is what we use to do at the dealership i worked at as a deatailer!
if u can take a pic of the rims an post them!

After i get my rims nice and clean of all the brake dust I use Amway silicone wax. It's from the eigthies and hard to find, but you can literally wipe the brake dust off with your finger after one application and see yourslef in them. Check ebay for the wax or maybe other silicone wax will work, but as far as I know Amway is the best.

Use some safe heel cleaner, and a fingernail to scrape it off if you have to. That's what I did.
Once you get it off, go upgrade to ceramic pads... I did this about a month ago and will never go back... they are awesome... Stops great and absolutely NO brake dust now. I got some Duralast Gold ceramic pads from Auto Zone.

And it may not damage them right away (though some of the cheaper wheels it will) but over time....it will. I detailed for BMW and at their training school we were told NEVER to use it.
no shit.. at the garage i worked at fuck we used it on all rims, shit we even used the shit on plastic hubcaps, !!! cleaned them up real good..lol.. didnt do any damage to them. but then again we did mix it 50/50
