ok so i have a quick question cuz i have searched and read and searched some more and can't find what i need. so i see alot of neon's with retro hid projectors but i don't want retros i like the projector style modern has. but i noticed on the ones from modern have one projector and one regular bulb




but i would like to replace the second bulb with a projector.... is this possible with an hid kit or would i have to get to seperate hid kits?and if so what all do i need to make it work??? i would like to make them look like that was they were made.

fyi i only use my high beams when visiting my dad out in the country. but would like to use hid's has they burn cooler then silverstars do they get pretty hot lol. and please no stupid comments i get enoughas it is

I'm a little confused by this one. You want a second projector for the high beam, yet you are asking if a HID would make it a projector?

Just to be clear...the projector refers to the type of lens the light travels through. You can put HIDs in both holes (with the right bulb of course) but only the low beam would be a projector.

The only way to get a projector on the high beam is to buy the headlights and cut them open and retro fit a projector into it. Then you could run HIDs in both. Providing you can find a projector that will fit.

your right on but i would like to "make" the regular bulb a projector lens also thus two projector lens' sorry for the confusion

Is ok. Can you show me an example of a projector bulb? HIDs use a somewhat regular bulb, it's just configured differently. But it still isn't a projector.

I see what you are trying to do, but what you chopped from the other side is part of the headlamp housing itself, not the bulb. The low beam has the projector made into the headlight, and the high beam uses a regular reflector type housing. Like I said in the first post, you have to cut the lamp open and do exactlly what you did on the photchop, but in real life.

Then you can use either halogen or HID bulbs. But the lamp itself is where the projector part is.

I'm going to post up a picture of a projector when I get home for a visual aid as well, just in case.

no i know it's a lens but i would like a second lens on top of were the high beam is so i thus have two projectors per headlightunderstand what i am meaning know

The hard part is finding a donor projector that small. Most cars have a fairly large projector housing.

For example, here is a set of projectors I have had for many years. It's out of a '91 or '92 Stealth.

Newer projectors are smaller, but not by much. The trouble is that if the lens is too small, the light quality suffers greatly. Your next challenge would be mounting them. But that a whole different challenge

so to clearify...he can only have HIDs on the high beam area on the MP projectors that was pictured above?

No, he can run HIDs in both holes with the right kind of bulbs (i.e. H7 for the low, and a H1 for the high if that's what the high beam takes). Only the low beam (outer) will be a projector, while the high beam (inner) will be a regular reflector. He would get better light output and less glare from the low beam because it is in a projector since HIDs are designed to work in proper projectors.

so by chance danteneon do you know what size projector might fit in there??? and don't most subies come with projectors?? not really sure but i have a local junkyard a can go digging in to find some projectors but need to know what types of cars to try and find them in you guys have been great help so for!!!!

I don't have a set of MPx headlamps, so I have no measurements for ya. As far as what fits, you will be in uncharted territory on that one

Like you said, take some time and look around the junkyards and see what is out there

Oh, before I forget...you do know that adding a projector to that housing will take some pretty involved fabrication work, right? They don't just drop in.

Adding HID for a high beam is a bad idea too. The HID ballast are not designed to be "flashed" or used for brief periods of time. It makes them cry inside

Hmmm. Good point, I forgot about that. If you are going to do a projector project you should just use a Silverstar as a bulb. Providing they make a bulb that fits it of course

There are guys on SRT forums that have done exactly what you're trying to do...their retrofit came out amazing. The projector quality in these ebay headlights is apparently pretty shitty

so i don't know if any one one here has an evo lol stupid question but if so can you give me the demensions of you'r projector from looking at my friends they look like they would work.... but here's the prblem...... getting ahold of some lol.... but there is a guy out here who has done stuff like this before and i must say looks damn good so i talked to him and he said he would help me out for free!!!! just cuz i will be the first out here!!! so now just need to get ahold of some good cheap projectors!!!!

Good and Cheap don't belong in the same sentence with the word projectors. Good projectors are expensive, cheap projectors are what you have. Cheap projectors are never good. Thats just the way it goes. Check on SRTForums there are a few people who have done a retrofit on these headlights that have measurements for you.

I can get it. But I'll tell you now it wont work for the idea you have. It would be better suited to a OE headlamp with a single bulb. The lens alone is about 2 1/2" in diameter, and overall length is about 4 to 5".

ebay projectors and mpx projectors r the same.

Well, different lamps but pretty much the same projector quality.

same company makes the ones that ebay sells and mpx. that topic has been touch many times on srtforums.com

orangeblast05 do you by chance know the measurments of the high beam socket? how many inches from the headlight lense to the outer part of the halo ring on the high beam? how big is you actual projector lense?
