Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

A sad day for me....

Post by NeonOn19s » Thu Oct 16, 2008 8:26 pm

Well I decided to clean the car today after work, degrease the engine and wash the exterior for the E.D.G.E show on Saturday. While I was working on the passenger side I noticed this....

My fear is that it is not safe to drive it until I can get a new tire....

I currently have BF Goodwrich 225/35 ZR19's I'm pretty sure it will be hard to find one before the show, and will not cost me an arm and a leg..

So I will be looking around the area to see if something is possible for tomorrow.

If anyone knows a place that I can get a decient deal Let me know.

On an upside, I got another part towards the turbo build.

Yeah man that sucks about the tire. I take it that its a gForce T/A KDW NT? Discount Tire Direct wants $227 for one. They do however had the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 in the same size for $136. It would be a safe bet to say that there is another tire close to the condition? If so I say buy 2.

I have the Dunlops and love them. They dont have a very long life (maybe its my driving  ) however but neither do the BFG's if I recall.

is there air still in the tire? I know it's hard to tell with low profile tires if the tire is flat or not, but check and see. If it's fine, you might try rotating it to the back so less force is placed on it.

This will also give you time to shop around as well. I know those tires are not cheap...

Go get yourself a fender lip roller. Or a wooden baseball bat, and roll the inner fender lips up so that the tire doesn't touch the edge of the fender.

the lip of the fender sticks a good inch into the wheel well, rolling it back will keep it from cutting the tire so much. plus if its rolled it won't be as sharp of an edge.

I would just avoid highway/freeway speeds until you get a new one, however i doubt it will let go unless you put a lot of force on it, so dd should be fine. I have Seen Much Worse.

yeah I had the fenders cut and rolled to clear the 19x8's. I"m going to get the alignment checked today and rotate the wheel to the rear.

Yea there is air still in the tire. I'm going to do that and just rotate to the rear until I can find a tire.
