Highest wattage bulb you've run in stock housing

Post by jbogden » Mon Nov 24, 2008 6:44 pm

Trying to get a feeler on how the housings are going to hold up in the stock '00 housings...I will be running a 80/110w hella bulb.
I run these in my excursion and motorcycle(plastic housings with custom harnesses with no issues after a yr+)
In my old 96 taurus I had I saw some yellowing after 6-8 months...but those housings are known for that anyway..

what have you run?

i dont think the housings are the main concern when using higher wattage bulbs.. its the wiring harness that isnt designed for them so it may not happen right away but you could melt your wiring down the road.. but you say ur using a custom harness so.. what im sayin has no relevence........:P

As long as you have a relay harness for them the housing should be fine.

yup...no issues there, I am almost done with the relay bank for the heads/fogs/air horns so all will be good that way, been there and had to fix that in the past on other vehicles...
