Installing 03+ Projectors with halos as DRLs

My lovely wife bought me a set of black housing DEPO projector headlights from Modern Performance for Christmas, and I am getting prepared to install them this weekend.

The instructions that modern performance provided are very clear and well illustrated, so I should not have a problem. I do, however, have a question concerning the halos.

My plan is to have the halo lights function as daytime running lights (DRLs), thus being on anytime the engine is on. The instructions show a schematic of the turn signal harness as:

Black - Ground
Black/Yellow - Parking lamps
Green/orange or brown/red - turn signal flashers

and instruct that to have the halos on all the time, solder the halo ground to the Black (ground) wire, and the halo positive to the Black/Yellow (Parking lamps) wire.

The only problem is, I don't think my car has parking lamps in the headlights. My car is Canadian, so the fog lights stay on during the day as DRLs. Aside from my turn signal flashers, I don't think any other lights come on in the headlight unit unless I manually turn the headlights on. Is this Black/Yellow (parking light) wire on my car, but non-function, waiting for the day that I could hook it up to halos to serve a purpose? Are there parking lights attached to this wire on my car that I have not noticed?

If anyone with experience hooking projectors up could chime in to clarify this for me, that would be great. I just don't want to splice into the wire only to realize that I actually needed to splice into my fog lights instead or something.

Many thanks!

when you give your headlight button a 1 click turn, what happens? the blinkers are constantly illuminated.. no? those are the "parking lights"

i dont think a canadian car would be any different.. i think that "feature" is pretty universal.. as far as i've read the only difference between CAD and US neon's is you have DRL's and we dont..

but if you want the halo's on all the time even if you dont have your parking lights on then yeah youd have to hook into the DRL wires (so the fogs)

So the "parking lights" are the blinkers when the headlights are on?

Ideally, I want the halos to be on anytime the engine is on, even if the fog lights are off (If my headlights are on, fog lights are optional).

Sounds like you'll want to run the halos from your DRM circuit that currently powers the fogs.

You'll then want to control the fogs via a relay from the parking light circuit. The parking lights can be turned on from your MFS. One click illuminates the parking lights, a second click turns on the low beams. The parking lights consist of all of the turn signal bulbs at low intensity and the sidemarker bulbs.

I went out to my car at lunch and figured out what you guys meant about the parking lights. I never really took notice to the single click before, I just spun the thing until it stopped. :) I thinhk I'll hook them up to the parking lights then as described in the instructions. I was debating on having a dedicated switch in the car for them anyway, and this is a good compromise.

Thanks guys! I'll be sure to post up some pics once I get everything hooked up!
