Some dude wanted $100 for all 5 windows on our car done...it's typically a lot cheaper to get windows tinted during the winter when it's cold

It can even be higher than $160. I paid around $250+ for the tint on the white car. It depends a lot on the type of tint they use. There are really cheap brands of tint film and then you get into the higher end stuff that blocks out more UV or reflects more infrared to keep the heat down.

When I got mine they had the standard which is really just tinted film with some UV protection. Then I think it went up to tint with a metallic fleck to it which reflects infrared better to keep the interior cooler. The problem with that though is the metallic interferes with the reception of cell phones, GPS, Sat Radio, ect... the next up is a tint that's thicker but doesn't contain any metallic so it blocks the same amount of infrared but doesn't hinder your reception.

i was going to say, most places around here charge 175-200 for very dark tint, For 5 windows. On the bright side, you go 6 years before it starts to peel when you pay for good tint.

I pay on average $200-250 for 5 windows with a good quality 35% tint. I have used the same shop for my last 5 cars and never had a problem with it. like most things in life, you get what you pay for.

Your best bet is to check your local places. The price ranges a lot.

usually the percentage of tint in most shops doesn't affect the price. It's usually just how many windows your getting done. Around upstate NY there are a variety of places and they range anywhere from $100-250. shop around and see if any friends have any recommendations or hook ups.

Be sure and ask how close to the edge they'll be getting with they apply the tint or ask around town or local forums. I tried to get my white car done down here after we moved. I asked around and kept getting mixed reviews on shops. People would show me their tint and there would be a considerable gap. I never found one I liked so I made plans to drive to Cincinnati (where I used to live) and have it done there since I knew the shops up there and their work.

Typically the warranty isn't through the shop itself and is through the manufacture that makes the tint film. Check with the shop to find out what brand of tint they use and research that tint manufactures warranty. A lot come with Lifetime warranties but there are some that do not. I have LLumar tint and if there's ever a problem I just take it to an authorized installer and they'll fix it at no charge.

Uh....50% in the front (to comply with Ohio law) and 35% everywhere else.

There's a crappy little shop that I would never go to again on the edge of town. Their customer service sucks, as does their workmanship.
