Passenger Mirror Delete Panel

Post by gonzo25 » Sat Feb 07, 2009 4:14 pm

So I was thinking the other day and I remebered at one point seeign a passenger mirror delte panel for first generation Neons. I do not think I have seen them for the second generation.

I know it is a very minor weight loss and a small amount drag reduced but I am having one made one up out of steel at a local shop. I am hoping to have pictures next week adn have it painted not long after. Is there still any interest for these things if they look nice??

Either way i will have pictures soooon.

I think they only came on the really cheap neons. Kinda like the Shadow AMERICA.

I think all neons came with passenger mirrors but there was a panel to remove it made by......darn. I forget the naem of the company. I do not think it was original dodge though.

why would you want to delete your passenger side mirror?

I want to get rid of it for weight savings as well as to reduce drag. Yes I am a little weird but wait till the wiper arms and blades come off for the same reason. :)

I know it will make negligable differences but we need all the help we can egt when we are not 2.4L turbocharged beasts

cause the 1lb of weight and .0000000000000001 drag affect would really make a difference.

why don't you just gut the car down to the frame and take the doors off and hood and trunk lid and windshield and etc. Then you can have all of the creature comforts removed to improve your drag time in your daily driver.

Before wasting time on a Passenger Mirror Delete panel, why don't you take out the power Steering and A/C cause those are going to slow you down a lot more than a 1lb mirror and 1lb wiper blades.

Wow....you are a bit of a dick. How do you know that this is my daily driver? Or how do you know that I have not removed the AC or PS?

The reality is you know nothing of me or my car. There was a market for these panels for first gens, I jsut wanted to see if anybody wanted them for their second generation. You can bite me though. :)

The fact that you're worried about a 1lb mirror and 1lb wiper blades to improve your ETs instead asking about adding more power or suspension setups or how to drive better proves that you have no idea what you're doing.

Someone could Fart in your direction down the track and it would affect your ET more than your mirror or wiper blades.

And I may be an ass or whatever, the truth of the matter is I have the guts to post what everyone who opened this thread and rolled there eyes wanted to post.

As harsh as it sounds man, Mox speaks truth. Yes, the 1gn ACR could come with a passenger delete panel from the factory because by law, you don't need three rear-view mirrors, just two. Honestly though, it dosen't make that much of a difference. The biggest difference will be taking out everything non-essential that is bolted to the frame. A/C, P/S, evap system, the dash, the HVAC system, the rear seats, the front passenger seat, cutting the bracing in the doors, removing all the interior panels and headliner.

Was I wasking about anything to do with my car? No. I already said I am doing it. Again you judge me knowing nothig about me. Maybe I have power all figured out and drag racing figured out? I have worked as an apprentice and mechanic for about 7 years now. I am betting I know more about cars then you do.

Saying what you think is jsut another way of saying your an as$hole.

The way you were asking about which intake to use on your 2005 automatic SXT made me believe that you didn't know everything about neons, but that was just me. Believe me, people have been in this neon game for a long ass time.

Just for a reference, the famous "Red Sled" (a 9 second SRT-4) and somehow held on it's mirrors.

This thing ran 11s and somehow still had its mirrors.

Just because I do not know what models of neons have the same style intakes does not mean I know less about cars....

Also just because you do some driving school does not mean that you could out diagnose or do a build up faster or have any real mechanical knowledge of cars. One pound mirror =.01 off the quarter as some would say. I will keep plucking away. I really don't like you though. You are an arrogent son of a bitch.

You missed your math a little.
100 lbs = .1
1lb = .001

Rock the delete panel anyway, you already made it up. But you'll realize just how often you look at that mirror while driving.

I think someone needs to do a search on this forum or talk to some of the members.

You want to talk about mechanical ability or building something faster go through some of my posts, go check out my progress log on my Mazda or find my Stage 3R thread. There's a member out there who did an entire Stage 3R install by himself with hand tools in like 15 hours.. I wonder who that is. I think its the same guy who used to take apart 4G63s at the track and can adjust/tune/diagnose suspension conditions in between runs..

Do you have any idea what they teach you at performance driving schools?

No doubt I am a sarcastic ass in person, But I've never taken a beating. Smart people don't talk with their fists they use their brains. I like Mental warfare. Being a Sarcastic Ass really came in handy playing high school and college baseball, used to get people off their game all the time.

Whats funny is you can't argue with me about what I've done in my life, so you result to personal attacks. That makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Actually yes, Mox is the exact same way in person as he is on the internet.

And I would suggest the name calling end now.

Meh, I've seen hardcore drag racers wax their fanblades, so I really didn't put too much thought into a mirror delete. The mirror removal would prolly have a better gain than waxing the fanblades of a V8 Camaro. At any rate it's nothing to get your panties in a bunch. To each their own.

These posts had nothing to do with life.........wow you took some driving school. Big deal. You were sooo condascending in your post and if thats not a personal attack I don't know what is.

People can use their minds but if that is not working ie. like when I said I will jsut do what i want to my car and you don't know anythign about me. after that i get talked down to again. That would be the time whern I stop trying to use my mind. There is no reasoning with people like you. Thats when if you knew me you would have taken a beating.

It does not matter if somebody is bigger, stronger, faster....the first shot usually ends a fight. Thats when i would be happy. :)

Mox is Mox, like I've said before you really need to take him with a grain of salt. Sometimes it is best to walk away. The more you thrash, the deeper the hook get's set.

How about you explain your goals? You never posted an introduction thread, never explained anything that you are looking to do. Random threads that you have made make it seem as though you need some Neon education. This is not an unusual thing. Many people that join this forum do not know much about neons, or 2GN neons.

You are alright even though i was not so much a fan of you in a previous thread. :) I will admit I do nto know a HUGE amount about second generation neons. I jsut got a demo at work so i am slowly goign to be turning my Neon into a drag car but wan to stick automatic jsut for fun. I have not done much at all to it yet. All I have is an UDP. I am eyeing up a magnum head and intake manifold now and will go from there.
