vent visors..side window deflectors..whatever

Post by Pablodragon » Sat Mar 21, 2009 2:21 pm

what ever they are called...

cool?...just for old people?...ugly?..dumb?

they seem to be rather pricey...

https://www.dodgeparts.com/product_info ... ts_id/1277

EDIT:.. just noticed, these are the stick on kind...have seen others that are basically pressure fit, where that just snap in uner the weather strip without any adhesive needed... but they were even more expensive

If you get AVS ones, make sure to get the in-channel ones. They look a ton better because they don't stick out very much. I want some but don't want to spend the money right now.

I rock them. I love 'em to pieces and have had them on every vehicle that I've owned... Mainly since vehicle manufacturers make it so all of the water on the roof drains on your arm if you're windows are down after some rain.

Very functional. I say yes... FTW.

I thought about those for a while, but I'd opt for not getting them.

Can you post pics, preferably closer-up ones of the visors? I haven't seen many pics of them on Neon's!

Weathertech are nice, I have them on my 2 door XJ. The only thing I don't like is if the window is all the way down, they can be stolen easily. They just fold to install/uninstall. So don't park with the window down far enough to remove them. It only takes half a second to get one out.
They also rattle a little if the window is down about a half inch, or more the window vibrates againt it, but this may only be a Jeep thing.
They do seem to indent the felt after a while, making a bit more wind noise. But I hate the stick on look, so I deal with it.

IIRC the visors are made in Germany. (The site says USA on the floor mats) And they are/were the brand used by Chrysler when I bought the Jeep. (1999)

So they are as old as the Jeep, and still look good. 10 years and still in nice shape makes them a decent investment.

you can see them some-what if you click on 03sxt's car picture-link

..and I know everyone has there own idea's about expensive,... butthey aare a little expensive for me, so they may go on the future mod's list.... even the link to the e-bay auction, they are close to 70 bucks for the in-channel ones ... quite a bit to me, for 4 peices of plastic.

...also wondering ig at least one of these brands is the same as something that can be gotten, or ordered from a local auto parts store like Murrays or Auto Zone... I know u have to pay tax, but it would save the the shipping...

Well technically the stick on ones are the easiest to steal... cause it doesn't matter how the window is rolled. lol.

I want to get these, but $100? that's insane..

They are not a mod you would want if you don't plan on keeping the car for more than a few years, not that it's your intention to sell your car.

The other selling point on the weathertech's is if the car is totalled, you can just pop them out and sell/reinstall on another neon. They would survive anything but a direct hit abrasionwise. They do bend quite far and snap right back.
But yeah, it is a lot of cash for what they are. I was lucky only having two doors. They got rid of the corner vents in the Jeep, so I had no other options for having the window cracked a bit, and keeping the weather out.

But you can't remove the stick on ones nearly as fast. Unless they are ready to fall off anyways. A razor does make a bit faster work tho.

I'm thinking about asking my boss to let me buy a set of the Prius.

A guy at work just got a new company car (with the exception of mine, all are used with 50,000 or less on them) and it came with them. I said I really want a set, and he said just ask and they will buy a set.

i swear by them. dollar for dollar one of the best things you can buy for a car. i got a set from autozone when they were advertised for 25% off. i think the total cost was around $60. i got the in-channel kind but they still had a bead of 3m tape. over a year later and no problems at all.

(don't mind the fugly rims - they have been removed and sold)

I never had a car that you couldn't open the window a little bit while it was raining... until the Neon. I didn't know they had those visors that didn't stick on and look crappy though. Gotta check them out.

I just open the passenger side window. I like most of my passengers to be wet anyways.

^They don't give an AVS part #. Can't tell if those are the in-channel ones or not. They make both for the Neon. Here's a link to the AVS site for reference:

actually, right on the first page of that link it says right in the description that they use the 3-M adhesive so I guess these are NOT the in-channel ones (even when you select Dodge Neon, it says the same thing...) oh well..

There is even a link on that page to some that are available in the color of your car...but are at least 3 times the price...and are still the stick-on kind...

the avs in channel models come with 3m tape applied already as well. the tape is on the outside of the top where it actually fits into the channel to stick to the frame. comes with cleaning pads and an adhesion promoter as well. clean inside of frame, remove tape backing, stick in channel, roll up window to seal it in place.

That would be a great price for the in-channel ones. I wonder how to tell which they are...
