gettin an r/t muffler for my 01 CG neon from neonsxt0468 but it has no tips...

im painting the muffler flat black, but need suggestions on the tips. the piping is 2.25, what do the r/t's tips measure.. 3" diameter?
how long are they, i dont want em sticking out too far..

also should i just get stainless steel, or should i paint em black?.
all ive ever seen is chrome or stainless.... so i was thinkin of trying somethin a lil different...

It'd be awesome if you could find some high-temp CG paint or something close or a bit darker... Maybe bronze? That'd be wicked.

thats actually a really good idea.. i wanted the muffler black so it didnt stand out to much, but i wanted something to set off the tips a little.. other than the standard chrome/steel i'll have to check and see if homedepot has some varietyt in the high temp paint area...

and to add.. i was thinking of painting my stock snowflakes, like this...

http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=15 ... snowflakes

but maybe now do a bronze/CG lip, with bronze/CG exhaust tips.... dunno, just throwing out ideas. its easier when i type em out, cuz i'll forget em later

now if i could find a shiny gold paint , and diablo0 can make me a big gold "2gn" decal for the rear window i'd be set... :P

I think that'd look nice. Maybe if you could find a high-temp lighter brown paint, that'd look cool.

heres step 1.. muffler is installed without the tips.. its saturday, and noone is open around here... and the few places that were wouldnt install my muffler, or had tips etc....

so i did it myself.... 2$ for the adapter, and 7minutes of my time.. i still dont have tips for it though... bought some of those stainless steel cheapies with the screws used to tighten them, but couldnt get em to match up...... so i'll have to get tips welded on on monday.. so they will line up right..

love the sound, and the look, cant wait till its finished..Image

what a difference in how it drives too, pulls much harder than before with the straight through glasspack... i have a newfound love for my atx...!!!!

Sorry about the grass! My dad needed room in the garage so i set it out back while I mowed the lawn and i probly kicked some in there. I stuck our air hose compressor in it and blew most of it out . Hey for some good tips look at Trubendz.com. They got some really nice ones there i'm thinking about ordering too.

muffler shop quoted me 50 for tips/labor.. and the only thing he said would work is a 2inch outlet tip that looked cheap, with the angled cut, no rolled edge at the end.. grrr..... thought the r/ts looked bigger in the pics... flared out.. so im sol for now till i can find something that will work..... still a low profile exhaust which is nice, but wanted em out to the bumper, not behind.... :P

Just go get some 2.5" tips from somewhere yourself. It can be done. You'll probably end up spending close to $30 + labor to get the tips on unless you know someone that can do the welding cheap. eBay's a good place to find stainless tips. :)

i'll see what i can find.. muffler shop was making a big deal out of the gap he'd have to weld, if i chose a 2.5 tip.. i said "adapter from 2-2.5 then tip?).. he said,, would make it too long.... blah.. i'll find another place, im sure they can cut down the tips, so the adapter would fit....
