I am going to pick up and install my freshly painted lip kit next friday, and I've been wondering what I'll do for the rear lip exactly. The exhaust I have on my car currently is a little larger than the stock r/t or srt mufflers, so will it fit? I heard that the kit comes with like cutouts for the mufflers, but will it fit mine? Or will I have to cut it out myself?

Here's a closeup of one of the pipes. see it's a little bulkier than the stock srt exhaust.

On the inside of the rear lip piece, you'll see an indention for how to make the cutouts for the muffler tips. This is exactly where you want to cut if you want to fit the R/T or ACR Muffler (I myself have an '02 ACR Rear section). You don't have to follow these lines if you are running a different exhaust setup. So that being said, you make the decision on where you'll need to cut. A simple dremel tool will do the trick (that's what I did to mine) and it's easy as piss to soften the edges out. Cutting up my rear lip piece was my very first time using my dremel tool lol. You'll just have to do some measuring with your exhaust setup and cut the lip piece accordingly so it'll fit nicely.

i've already installed the lip without cutting it, does anyone know if the lip comes off easily or if i'll just have to do the cutouts on the car?

I couldn't have said it better myself. Just use a dremel tool to cut out the parts you need. You dont really have to follow the lines if you have a different exhaust. I used a knife at first, but it was tiring and it looked bad. So I went and get a dremel and did it in 2 minutes. lol

Well if you already installed it, you should know if it's easy to take off. Or did you not do the installing yourself? If you used the 3M tape, you might have to get a new way to tape it to the bumper. Other than that... No, it's not hard to remove the lip piece from the bumper. What is hard, however, is removing the bumper from the car I didn't have a long enough extension for those bolts so I was doing like 1/8th turns for almost all the bolts... took forever lol.

Why don't you just take the whole bumper off? I know it'll be a PITA, but at least you could dremel the lip piece while it's still on the bumper and save yourself from having to remove the tape. Just a thought.

quoted for truth! I did the same exact thing on all four corners when I installed mine last year. I was getting so pissed haha.

Sykora, the mystery thing I did to mine was paint the indentation satin black. that's all haha. I'd imagine your exhaust should fit in the cutouts, but you'll know soon enough by holding the lip kit up to it and seeing if it matches.

if you dont have access to a dremel tool, i used a box cutter to take out my cutouts.

If you read the Mopar Instructions, it actually suggests that you paint that section black... so you wouldn't be stealing anyone's idea as far as members who have painted that section black.

YES! I can avoid car plagiarism I've actually seen some people cut them out though.

haha yeah. I wasn't the first to do it. A few other people here have it. I saw it done on that yellow sxt that they use in the ads to promote the lip kit/SRT spoiler/Mopar rice lights. I like how it looks. I think it goes well with my cudas

damn that yellow neon is sick in that first picture in my opinion

Yeah I rememberd reading my instructions suggesting to paint that area flat black too.

It looks really good, better than one color IMO.

Not that it is that big of a deal, but then all the edges would be painted, and the black could have been done too.

yeah I see that now. truth is, I never saw the kit before it has been painted. I bought it and had it shipped directly so I wouldn't have to resend it. It's not a big deal I guess. It'll be blue for now

I didn't bother much with painting it black cause my car's a dark ish color anyway. I forgot his member name, but there's someone here with a nice looking blue with the lip piece in the back painted black. Looks real good against the blue. You should definitely get it done sometime

Are you talking about this car? or another 03+ car?




This gives you an idea of it being black against a darkish blue color. Your car is a brighter blue so it'll stand out more and look awesome.


Perhaps you could mask it off and just spray it with spray paint from Autozone? Or would that peel / fade off? Considering it's at the bottom and it won't be exposed to much sunlight.

Thanks guys. I'll definately have to do that. Eventually I want to get an SRT-D front bumper and paint the Dodge cross black, so that'll look cool together if I do that
