I fail at tinting tails....

I used the RC car spray tint and I guess it wasn't UV resitant. My tails are back to stock color and the clear is flaking and falling off. My question is what can I use to safely remove the clear and whatever tint is left on there? I was thinking maybe mineral spirits.

When I redid my tails, I put paint thinner on a paper towel and just wiped it off. I couldn't see any damage to the plastic, but I don't know if I'd recommend doing it.

It looked great when I first did it, my side markers are waving now, and the thrid brake light is still fine. I was scrapping the clear off with my key today, I do have some 1200 grit paper. Maybe I'll give it a shot this weekend its supposed to be nice.

Brake cleaner takes it off, just don't use carb cleaner it will de-nature the plastic. The brake cleaner will haze the plastic but if you're retinting them anyways just wetsand with 600 and go to town. Just use Nightshades and UPOL like I did.

PPG is a automotive paint company. They use reg base coat and dilute it then spray to darkness and clear after.

Anything not UV protected will fade. The flaking is improper preparation.

Well if you dint sand them at all to begin with thyere guna fuck up. And ive been using the RC paint for a while now and yea it does fade but its cuz it has no UV protection. Sand them, paint them, clear them, let dry, sand again, and buff. that shit has worked great for me and ive done a good amount of lights already.

Wait until it cures and use a finer paper 1500-2000 to get rid of the imperfections, the buff it out.

exactly.just take your time with it tho cuz u need to sand evenly and if the lights have different curves, creases, n edges all over it makes it a lil harder cuz u gotta make sure u dnt burn thru the clear or worse the paint

Well hopefully I'll have a new set of tails in soon, so I can pull these and actually take my time. Now that I think about it, I rushed them because it started to rain, and I have no tail lights in my car.
