Opening headlights

Post by heydockyle » Sun Nov 22, 2009 12:07 pm

For all of you that say it's so easy to open up ebay projector headlights, please explain because I've heated them to 350 and pried around 4 times now and it won't budge.

My OEM taillights opened just fine so I don't see how I'm doing anything wrong.

How long did you leave them in for? The stock headlights are 15 minutes at 300 degrees. Aftermarket ones are normally 250 for 10 minutes or less.

Like 6 or 7 minutes. The lense and everything was way to hot to touch. Screw it. I just opened a hole on the bottom and put my eyelids on. Not melting these things down.

If they keep leaking I'll sell them and go retro eventually.

Heat at 250-300 for 5-10 minutes

pull and pry at the inner corner (where the turn signal bulb is)

If unsuccessful after a few minutes of prying, then place back in oven for another 3-5 minutes and try again until they pop open

Also, wear some leather gloves or at least oven mitts when doing this.
