Paint Blending?
Paint Blending?
So I'm a total noob with painting and I am really sick of the flaked and bubbled paint from when I took my moldings off. Yeah I could just put them back on, I know, but I was looking at a different option. Any idea of the process of sanding down just the affected areas, then priming, painting, and clearing. Of course I would have to, i dont know, wetsand and buff the result, but would it look ok or be totally obvious. Weigh in because I'm sure I said something incorrect lol

What color is your car? What type of paint would you be using? Spray can? Or gun?
If you don't know what you are doing odds are you will be able to tell unless you have a black car it makes it easier.

^^ i agree with the exception of saying spray can will always look like shit, there is cans that you can have charged with the automotive paint of your choice that has the hardener in a separate cartridge within the can, such as the spraymax 2k clears, they are great products and for smaller parts they are a great option.
but for your doors have them reshot professionaly or don't bother. trust me

Oh yeah it comes out great on small areas and accent pieces, but I was referring to the door which it would never yield a good result on.wiggyx wrote:I agree with Crystal about 95%. The rattle can dealership paint can look good, but usually only on smaller items like mirrors and such where the puny spray pattern won't be an issue. Trying to do a body panel with it will not yield favorable results.

If you want them to look their best I would. You would need to buy a ridiculous amount of those cans to get the paint to cover properly. And as we all know those cans aren't cheap. So when it's all said and done you paid $200 for spray paint when you could have paid less to have them done professionally.
