any 2000 to 2005 neon 3rd brake light works. you could start at junkyards to search for them or the for sale posts. if you ever decide to go to the jy, just make sure you carefully take the light out or you'll break the tabs.

Are you talking about the tabs that the two bolts go through to hold it onto the trunk?

If so, and you have a little bit of the tab left, just get a couple big friggen washers and bolt that baby down tight.

It seems like they over tighten the shit out of them from the factory, I've had 4 and they all had broken tabs. I might have a soare one kicking around, but its probably got broken tabs.

^^^ Just crappy plastic. It's so easy to break them (if they aren't already) when you try and remove the damned thing. Just trying to work it off the studs is usually enough to crack them.

X2 on big fat washers for a fix.

Yeah you'll need a really fat washer to help keep that down. Worth a try since if you get one out of a junkyard you're more than likely going to have the same issue.

Yeah, try a washer. That's not atypical. They get brittle and crack.

A washer probably won't help because there is nothing to clamp it against.

How do you figure? The washer will push the broken part out where it should be and there's a lip/foam 'gasket' around the lamp itself that will keep it firm against the trunk lid.

Although, that's still a temporary fix for a cheap problem. If nothing else get a new clear Modern Performance one on ebay for $20 and call it a day

It's ok, Frank. I know it works because my tabs were broken when I bought the car. I tried the washer trick and it held that light strong all the way up to when I sold it. Best poor-Neon-owner fix I ever did. :-P

Washer is, for all intensive purposes, a permanent fix. I had mine held in with 2 washers until I shaved it completely. Probably more stable than the way it came from the factory.
