i guess so. i could understand if the mirrors were solid blocks with no aerodynamic properties, but as they are so light ans curved i think it will be just for looks. post up pics when you are done.

They probably weigh somewhere around 5-7 pounds. Not that light.

^^^ 5-7 lbs on a turbo car that weighs 2900lbs will make absolutely no noticeable difference. The drag is more the concern I'd imagine.

Well, it's more like a 1950lb drag car. But nonetheless, if I'm grinding off the ends of unneeded studs for the interior, etc, it's worth the weight reduction to put a little sheet of aluminum there with a couple small socket caps.

No, the trunk and hood will come sooner or later. But even so, it weighed in at 2350 2 years ago, and a ton of weight has been pulled since then.

The 2350 was with the crash bars, etc. Since then, that's been pulled, along with more useless crap all over the car, including the dash with airbags, heater, and a good 30lbs of wire that isn't connected to anything now.

Well, if you really want to see if it does make a difference, pull them off, and duct tape the holes shut. Should be as close to what a plate will do, and is a lot less effort. If it does make a difference, then fab up some nice aluminum plates. Or lexan/paint to match, it's lighter.

Plexiglas would work too, but it likes to crack/shatter when cutting/drilling. You should be able to get lexan scraps at a glass shop/hardware for next to nothing. The hardware across the street sells strips of Plexiglas (IDK about lexan) for 25 cents.

This delete is a factory delete that came on some early 1gn neons. For those of you who are looking to shave a few pounds from the car this would be a very easy way to accomplish your goal.

That would be awesome... except he has a 2gn and it's already been established the parts won't swap over between the first and 2nd gens.

I'm still leanting toward just some aluminum sheet. I can very easily just cut it to size and drill a couple holes to mount it in the same place the factory mirrors went. I'll post up pics when I get around to it.

grinding off threads is hardcore. Hell, removing ~1000 lbs from a car is impressive.

To answer your original question: I've got two... one for both sides.... they're plastic. Let me know if you're interested.

Yup. If they are light, they are mine. (unless you want some sort of unrealistic amount for them...)

Are those just the bases for the folding mirrors? If that's the case, I wish my stripped down model came with those instead... lol
