sealing headlights

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

sealing headlights

what the best sealer to use for headlights, and not permanent cause ill need to open them up later, and not nissan taillight sealant, just need something temporary

If you don't want permanent, silicone adhesive should work. That stuff will peel off pretty easy once you work at it, at least in my experience.

3M windshield tape. That is what I used when doing my retro fit.

Isn't there some residue left on your headlight? I didn't even use new sealant. Whatever was stuck to mine went right back together and no leaks, but would come apart again.

My TYC headlights sealant harden up again and I could have tried to re-melt it but then i might have melted the lens.

Yeah once I painted my headlights, I popped the back of the assembly in to soften the sealant, stuck it all together so that it all got softened, clamped 'em for a bit, then put it ALL back in completely assembled to get it soft again, then pulled it out, clamped, and let 'em cool.

Just use the stuff from nissan, You'll actually find it easier to open them up later, Or at least i know i did. That stock plastic-like glue they used, is terrible, and will leak sooner or later, even if the light has never been opened.
