Bright headlight bulbs

Just a plug N play bulb that gives out a brighter look than stock. Those pictured are the GE Nighthawks. They seem just so subpar.

Other cars on the road seem to have a brighter light output. I want suggestions.
For example, bulbs like these:

Any other brands?
Not going HID in stock housing or retro's anytime soon. I just want a bulb to give out more of a white/blue look to somewhat match my 6300k HID projector fogs.

I'm rocking Sylvania Silver Star Ultras and I like the color of the light.

Those bulbs will probably look more like the fogs, but they won't be as bright. That blue film cuts output a bit. Nighthawks, IIRC, are on par with Silverstars. I don't know what would compare to Silverstar Ultras though. I've got Sylvania Cool Blue lights in my truck, and they are pretty bright, and look very white. I get flashed somewhat often in it. I don't see the bulbs being much different from my sealed beam ones though. Of course, the Ultras are still brighter...

The cool blues look good:
http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProduct ... /CoolBlue/

Going to have to compare prices between those and the Ultra, I would assume the Ultras are more expensive. I hear the regular Silverstars don't last that long? This true?
Edit:
Found a killer deal
http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-9007SU-B ... 268&sr=8-1
Went ahead and ordered a set. Came to $28 shipped with taxes.

The Ultras weren't even around when I got the Cool Blue lights. The Silverstars had just come out. Any high performance bulb is going to have a shorter life compared to any other. I'd have to venture to say that the Ultras would have a shorter life than the regular Silverstars, on average.
That is a pretty good deal though!

Yeah thats what I hear. We shall see. Reading some of the reviews looks like they last quite a while:
These lights are a big improvement over stock bulbs without being obnoxious to other drivers. I have not had failures of this lamp in any vehicle. I am careful not to touch the glass of the bulb with bare skin. Finger oils can supposedly damage the glass and shorten the life. As an electrician, Sylvania bulbs are my first choice. They have served me well over the years with impressive longevity.
purchased a 2-pack of the 9007SU in June 2009 and got around to installing them in July 2009. One of the bulbs finally burnt out in March 2010 (low beam) after 9 months of near constant daytime & nighttime use. (I don't have daytime running lamps, so daytime use is 100% low beam.)
Fortunately, if you read the fine print on the back of the package, these bulbs come with a 1 year warranty from Sylvania. This is a one-time warranty only (when the replacements burn out, you're out of luck.) For warranty service, call Sylvania Automotive customer service at 800-347-3420 and provide the rep with your name, address, phone #, make, model & year of the vehicle. You will have to print a copy of your Amazon invoice and fax it to them before they will ship your replacement bulbs. They will ship out a 2-pack, even if only one bulb has failed.
Hmmmm, So I could call them up a little before a year today and get a set for free.
Curious to see how long they last.

Thanks for the lead on the Silverstars !!

I like those, I've been happy with mine.
They do seem to burn out quicker than other bulbs.
However, I think the visibility gains are worth it, in terms of safety.

The best gain is HID for sure but as I know, since I used silverstar before, they appear to be very bright and light up the road pretty well. However, someone told me Ultra is even better. The bad thing about those bulbs are their life are short. The silverstar on mine last only for less than a year (around 8-10 months).

FWIW, Sylvania rates the 9007 at 500 hours (in the lab), and the 9007 SilverStars at 200. I've never seen a rating for the Ultras.

Wow, 200 hours? Those would not last very long at all in my car...

I've been running Ultras for about 2.5 years now (~20K miles) and they're going strong. Definitely going to be buying them again. Noticeably brighter than stock but nothing ridiculous. Just pure white light.

I would be very carefull upgrading the headlight bulbs, my mfs melted after years of having the ultra white sylvanias.

Multifunction switches have been known to melt, just because they feel the need. If it took years to melt it, it was prolly going to fail anyways.

The cool blue bulbs aren't going to give you a "ricer blue" look. They put out white light.
