i want to paint over the chrome with a darker color (gunmetal/black)
and i also wanted to add some LED strips to get that audi DRL look.

Bake them in the oven. Or:

And that's NOT easy at all on stock lights... I baked some TYC ones open this way and destroyed the bucket. They are still usable but they look like butt. OEM type sealant sucks. DEPO headlights open 100% easier.
I had to bake them pretty high heat for a lonngggg time to get em to even budge too. Good luck... take your time or you will melt/craze/or otherwise destroy them.

Yea you would probably have to go with a dremel for stock lights. Anything else would likely ruin them, not that dremeling your headlights is smart if you only have one set.

Baking them sounds risky... I'll cut them up instead. Would a hair drier match up to the oven? And how much does paintin them black effect the intensity of the light? I've got cool blue bulbs so they're a bit brighter than stock.
