Rear Reinforcement bar

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

Rear Reinforcement bar

Post by C1DoG » Fri Sep 02, 2011 10:32 am

Would the reinforcement bar from a 1 gen fit on a 2 gen? My guess would be yes. I just want to make sure about it.

I don't think so. I can't say for sure since I haven't tried it, but there were a lot of sheet metal changes made between the 1st gen and the 2nd.

The question I have is why are you wondering?
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I gotta replace mine, I found out when I was looking behind my bumper that it was smashed on the drivers side. I was thinking of taking a look at a few of the 1 gens that are at the local yard to see if they were any good.

The upper tie bar is similar, but I doubt an exact fit. The lower bar is definitely different. It has provisions for a motor mount. Not sure if that would cause a problem tho. I doubt a whole assembled core support would fit. (properly) You can buy individual pieces from the dealer. But they need cut out, and spot welded in.

I have the lower filler panel for the driver side. Prolly would have more pieces if the loser body shop hadn't thrown my new parts in the scrap, instead of actually returning them to me, and trying to say they used them. /rant

Thanks for the info. After some careful considerations. I am going to go ahead and order one from RockAuto. It just pushes getting coilovers a lot longer than I had wanted, but this is something that needs to be done. When I get my srt rear fascia painted I am going to replace the bar since I will have the fascia off.

Unless I am missing something, he is asking about the bumper renforcement behind the cover. The core support is what you are refering to Bill.
