I'd like to know as well.

A guy at work (who just aquired a 2nd gen Neon) was asking me about doing this.
I don't know anyone who's done this, that I'm aware of.

Free bump for this thread.

No it wont fit. I guess you could possibly heat it up and mold it. I wanted to use the 1gn roof rack too but I lost interest. Not the greatest picture but when you sit the roof rack on our..."roof's" lol the 2gn is a lot more rounded. Also the side rails for the roof rack are a tad too long and over lap onto the window seals.

The gap is a lot worse than this picture shows.

I was able to do mine. Just select the year, make and model and check the box that says you have a spare. Next it will ask what kind of rack you are looking for. Click roof. Spend lots of money.

See? Easy.

Still won't let me do it. I cant select anything under "fit my car" or at the bottom of the page where it asks you the model, year, etc. :(

It works for me, maybe try a different browser?

Or just http://www.yakima.com might work better...

That worked... But I was cool with a $50 1st gen rack.. but $400 just for the base is not within my budget :(

I wonder, *if* this is possible, or if it would work..... :-k

A decent heat gun, and some patience, might do the trick.....

1st gen roof rack

Post by BeatsBejar » Thu Jul 17, 2014 1:04 pm

Did that roof rack end up working? I'm thinking about getting one, but wasn't sure if it worked or not...

Never tried it, ended up getting a rack for a 2gn shortly after this thread was started.
