Euro neon parts on US neon?

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

Euro neon parts on US neon?

Post by bobneon2k » Sat Jun 09, 2012 6:54 pm

2000 ES MTX

Is it possible to get a chrysler neon bumper and grille here in the US? I saw a few european members cars and I like The look. similar to the 03-05 on top with the 00 -02 bottom. I'm guessing the fitment would be better than with a 03 - 05 swap too and to have the chrysler logo on the front would be a sweet bonus too. I'm guessing it would bolt right up. I doubt they would spend the money to make them THAT different. I know this is a long shot but i thought it better to ask then not.

AFAIK, all N/A export front fascias are basically '02 R/T w/out side markers, and accommodations for tags.

PN is in the FAQ section and the exterior parts also, IIRC.

I changed it from Chrysler to Dodge - so always everyone wants what the others have...

For the front you only have to get a Chrysler-Grille and that´s all, except you want to delete your sidemarkers

For the rear you would need a Bux-bumper to have the rear-foglights if you need/ like together with the MFS.

For the airbag you just need the emblem or a sticker.

If you want to make it complete you have to wire up somethings - like headlight adjustment (sure you need Bux-headlights with that feature for that), the orange turnlights on the taillights [both only for 99-02 so pre NGC-models only], the additional side-turnlights on the fenders.

Just let me know if you need/ want something, have a couple of parts laying around.

You have to remember her in the States, a '99 is still a 1gn neon. Nothing from the body will (easily) fit a 2000 up, except maybe the rear wing.
I'm assuming it is just an early release 2000 model year...and they classify things differently there.

The 2000/'01 SE have a different fascia than the '02, and R/T's. Our 2003 to 2005 have the "Caravan" style front fascia, where the exports did not change, from my understanding.

I would really like to see a '99 2gn pic, just to see what fascia they did use, because it would be really interesting if it is the same for all years of export. Seeing they didn't use that until the '01 R/T here. And the no lip version on the '02 se/sxt, which the Chrysler grill will also fit.

It's beginning to sound like the euro neon is a more upscale version of the US car. I did not know about the rear fogs so now I want that too LOL.

Gnuserup I just may take you up on your offer. What parts do you have? Please P.M. me with a list and prices. If cheaper than local prices for euro parts i'm sure we can make a deal. I'm definitely interested in a front fascia (R/T?) and chrysler grille. I'm going to research the rear fascia and fogs as well so if you have any of that let me know, i may want them too.

Ok - your modellyear 2000 (I meant date of built 1999) has the 1st-gen-style-front bumper. Here in europe/ germany they always sold the neon with your 2001-style-front-bumper without sidemarkers

Image

and the rear with foglights

Image

@bobneon2k - I really have a lot of stuff laying around. Think the easiest things to ship may be the grille, taillights, the headlight-adjust-panel

(for picture see here - viewtopic.php?t=57516&highlight=)

and the MFS.

The rearbumper would be a pita to ship due to the shipping costs

On the rear bumper I agree, too expensive and difficult to ship. I don't think US license plates would fit either. Although buying thenm new locally would be about $500 shipped I think so you never know. I'll have to customize the one I have. Can you provide some pics of the grille? I am really interested in that. Maybe a price before shipping too? Thanks.

Never let anyone tell you that you can't. The only reason why people say that, is because someone told them they can't and they listened.

Interesting, I thought the euro front also had the R/T lip, but that one clearly does not. We didn't get that fascia until 2002 M.Y., except with the sidemarker holes of course, and a US sized tag pocket.

The reason I asked - and I may have misunderstood what he said - Gnuserup seemed to mention that the emblem was a separate piece. i just wanted to be sure.

The Chrysler-emblem is fixed on the grille - so no separate part here. Just the airbag-emblem could be changed separately :)

The RT has not officially been sold in germany, so no lip on the german frontbumpers.

I´ll look out for the tails and how many sets I find, definitely one but sure I have two sets left.

The rear bumper cannot be bought state side. If you get one, youll have to have it shipped from over seas.

Plates will fit, its just holes. The export rear does have two license plate lights, so youll want to wire up a second one to look right.

anyway, here is a pic of my car with it installed.

Mine also came from an export R/T, as it has the cut outs for the exhaust tips.

Still stupid that you cannot order it.
What do Canadian neons look like? Do they have that bumper? Maybe you could buy it there!

Canadian Neons are just like American ones except for some years when they were badged as Chryslers instead of Dodges and Plymouths. No BUX goodies from Canada.

Haven´t they had daytime-running-light modules as the only one who had them originally ?

Yeah there are really no "BUX" items from here, only thing that would be different as mentioned is the Chrysler instead of Dodge. The KM/H clusters and daytime running lights as thats part of our safety system requirements.

No, just stock Silverstones. MSE wheels would be black with a polished lip.
