touch up paint question

Post by apk2k6 » Mon Feb 06, 2006 4:33 pm

I have a few marks where paint is missing, such as scratches and etc. I tried to buff them out but it didn't work. I would like to get touch up paint, but would it stand out any? Would it be smooth like the current paint, as well as maintain the shine, or should I just get a detail place to touch it up for me? Thanks

well, to be honest, you can't get it to "dissapear" like we all would like. yes, dabbing some touch-up paint in there would make it look better, but I would normally use a q-tip instead of the brush they come with, dab some into the chip/scratch, and wipe off the excess that is around the chip/scratch. if you don't feel that you could do this, go to your favorite body shop and they can do it for you, cheap if not free. good luck!

I used a toothpick to put touch up paint in tiny rock chips on my front bumper, just to hold me over till I could get it redone...you couldnt even tell unless you got really close to it

Touch-up paint pens work beautifully for scratches, the paint self levels. Can still tell it was there but it turns out very nicely.

Is your SXT the blaze red ? (the deeper red?) or is it the brighter red ?

anyways - On my SXT BLAZE red . . I used the "Colored" wax stuff . . . it was like a two part scratch remover and it worked really well . . .

My car is flame red

The sun wouldn't screw up the paint though, like make it too much lighter? Or would it just be enough to blend it in, because I want my car to stay shiny as long as it can haha. I know it wouldn't be a huge difference but still, just wondering
