I just wanted to know what you guys thought of a couple mods I would like to do tomorrow. I know for sure im painting my break calipers red. What about my side bumpers, I want to remove them. I have asked this before, but now im for sure doing it unless you guys think it would look better as is. What do you think??

Leave it like this, or rip it off?

As far as painting the calipers, definitely do it. I used some VHT hi-temp paint on my calipers on my T-bird and they're still bright red after more than 2 years.

Painting the calipers will give it some 'flash', go for it.
taking the side moldings off would look really good too, but since its an 02, the paint might bubble up some underneath and then you would hvae to get it fixed. make sure it doenst look like it will bubble before you start pulling them off. Just take your time on a hot day, w/ fishing string and it should be fine.

is there a problem with the 2002 Paint job or something. If there is a chance of it bubbling, im not gunna try cuz i dont wanna wreck it, maybe its not such a good idea. Picked up the paint for the calipers today anyhow. Gunna spray it tomorrow before the snow falls again... freakin snow. Ummm, also got some freebees, you can check them out when I post pics of my interior, dont worry, its nothing retarded.

ahh i see, well maybe ill break out the ol' hairdryer and give it a shot then. Ill just do it the same way I did my badges basically, that seemed to work well. It does look pretty clean... and i know that if i dont to it now, im gunna do it somewhere down the road. Main-as-well do it when its easiest.

Well I did the calipers today. Didnt have time for the other stuff. I spend 4 hours today rubbing scratch-x into my paint and got rid of 95% of the scratches on my car, its great stuff. But anyhow, heres a pic of the calipers, the camera makes them look dark tho.

Im gunna take some more pics when its lighter out, whaddya think?

Lookin' good! I'm thinking of painting my calipers. For some reason natural rust color doesn't go too well with an all white car.

Just go do it, its not hard, just takes a while. I just left mine on and painted them right on the car. The paint was 10 bucks, and it gives it a pretty nice look when its done!

I just don't wanna spend the time sanding down the rust
Also, I'm not sure if it'd look too out of place with only front disk brakes.

If your cars a daily driver, leave the side mouldings on. They help save some of the bumps and dings on the doors. If you're going for show, the doors do look cleaner with them off.
You should have no problems with paint ripping off. I've ripped door moudings off of 10 year old cars without pulling paint off. You just have to be forceful and gentle at the same time. You just can't be going all Heman on them and expect to not mess something up.

Thanks for the help, I might rip them off cuz next year I will be making the car a sunday driver and driving around in a 95 sable. I wouldnt worry about the rust on the calipers, I just got some paint that you can paint over the rust with. You dont have to sand them down, just use a wire brush to get rid of all the loose rust. You could also buy a spray that converts the rust into a sprayable primer. It works pretty good, i used it on rust on my old truck. Just ask for it at cranky tire. Tell me how it worked if you try it tho, good luck.
