What's weird too is that even though the light output goes down, as the temperature goes up, the price goes up too.
So the 8000k kit will cost more, even though it produces less light than the 6500k.
The only reason I went for the 8000 is because in the pic it didn't seem too blue. But alas, it is, but I won't complain because they still kick some major booty.

Most kits I've priced have been the same no matter what color you go with. I was originally set on the 10000k, but after talking with a couple people I've decided to go with the 8000k, because I want some color.

I wish there were some better photo galleries of HID conversion kits installed on cars. I've seen a few different galleries, but they all look different. Like in some pictures, 10000k doesn't look all that purple, but others they come out super purple... And the same with the blues... Some 6000k look REAL blue and others don't. Now I'm stuck because some of the 8000k's look like a real fake bright blue. Like how the APC blue bulbs look for the first week you have them.
I wish the 12000k's were still bright, but looked purple. I love the looks of them.

You want a pic of mine at night? I can show off the output of my brand new racoon headlamps lol.
Phillips, supposedly, is a good name too. McCulloch is one of the best names too. Someone on this site referred me to a site that sold some good ones too--it's probably in this thread, i'm just too lazy to go back to page one lol.
The differences in actual color is what stinks (meaning, the pictures the vendors supply).

No big thang, man.
Just to slightly express how frustrated I get when looking at different places to buy HIDs from, I compiled a bunch of images from places that sell them and was comparing the colors... It seems like almost every place you can get them from has different examples for the colors.
And sometimes it's kinda' hard to tell if they just photochopped some of the images to alter the color between the K scale because they were too lazy to swap bulbs, etc... So here's my compilation of the HID pictures... Note some of the extreme differences in colors between the companies that sell them.

I really like the color from the '10000k' kits in the 'Halo' example and the 'supervtec' example at the bottom left... But the others show it as a APC blue color.

From previous experience, both on my cars and friends cars, I wouldn't go anything over 6500k. However it all depends on what you want.
3000k is yellow, alot of people use these in their fog lights
4300k is supposedly the whitest, these are what the stock 300C's are
5000k is what redeuroneon has and his are pretty much pure white
6000k is somewhat of an aqua blue (they have a blue green tint to them) *Mine
6500k is where you start to get hints of blue *Cassi's
7000k-8000k are the blue range
10000k-12000k are purple, the higher you go the more purple and less light you get

Ehh, ill be the first one to say retros are the only way to go. 4300k so I have pure white, but in the color beam i have deep blues, purples, and some yellow its crazy. I was going to get an hid kit, then after seeing them in a bunch of other cars and getting blinded, retro is still the best choice. I was at a stop light with a honda with the purple 12000k, it seemed like my stock lights were brighter than his

Thanks for the input everyone... I wanted to be slightly different from the crowd and not go with blue, but I don't want to lose too much light by going with the purple. Looks as though I might just go with something in te 4000k - 6000k range. I dunno... I'll never make up my mind until I actually get the money and just add something to the cart.

I have 7,000K and I think they're pretty white with a slight purple or blue hue. Mike and Dave (FTWNeon) saw them the other weekend for Carlisle... maybe they can give their opinion on what color they think they are. I like mine though... they aren't ungodly blue, they aren't really purple... just a nice mix in between but still pretty white. If I were to do it again... I'd get the Phillips 4300K dual beams.

I'm back to liking the 7000k-8000k range again.
They just look a lot more ricer blue when you look at the headlights when they're on, but what projects is a completely different story. I just wish I could find REAL pictures of other temperatures and not some photochopped shit to 'represent' the actual color. I'd like to see real pics of 10000k setups and maybe 12000k.

I'm with you on that man. I dont want to spend 200 + bucks and end up not having the color that was advertised.03sxt wrote:I'm back to liking the 7000k-8000k range again.
